SCC 2013 August Southern sewist Fall 2013 has arrived! ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF THE SEWISTS IN THE LOWCOUNTRY OF GEORGIA & SOUTH CAROLINA SINCE 1981 The children back in school or off at college, football is on the TV so fall must be lurking just around the corner. Regardless of the warm temperatures and seemingly endless rain, it is time to look at our gift closet and make that tough assess- ment of what really needs to get completed. I know I have a list as long as my arm! October brings Halloween and making those fun, and original, costumes for our little trick or treaters. Just on the heels of it is Hanukah (November 27th), Thanksgiving (November 28th), Christmas (December 25th) and New Years Eve!! Do you have all your gifts ready? five super easy pieced blocks with a strip pieced and fusible applique starry swag Border.

There are lemonade and fireworks stands, an old fashioned ice cream cart, a farm fresh

strawberry stand and even a darling beach cabana! The accessory fabrics have all the adora-

ble specialty fabric for the blocks including the lemonade and strawberry fabric and even the

little girl in the swimsuit! Join Robin each month to create your block & get those tips and

Technical Tip: Using Magnets Close to your BERNINA

Occasionally we are asked if there are any issues with the

BERNINA machines using a magnetic seam guide or magnetic pin-

cushion on the frame or in close proximity to our machines. It’s

not a problem! According to BERNINA of America, the mag-

nets have no affect on your machine.

Pumpkin Pie Learn quick and easy ma-chine applique while creating the perfect fall quilt with pumpkins, blackbirds, a pumpkin hugging owl and, of course, a pumpkin pie.

Beginning Quilting In this basic class, you will learn the basics of quilting

and have a completed quilt after the final session. Learn the es-sentials of quilting from rotary cutting to binding.

Twisted Halloween & Twister

Gone Wild!

Make a twister quilt (or finish one) of your choice, using any size twister ruler! If you've started a twister quilt but want to finish it with assistance, or if you've wanted

to try the twister ruler, sew your squares together and come cut and sew. We even have the new "midi" twister for 6 1/2 inch squares, as well as the

original for charm packs and layer cakes, and the Itty Bitty Twister for tiny quilts! The results are stunning. Thurs 9/12 & 9/26 6 pm-8:30 pm $30 Robin

and reach the 'finish line'!

Pleaters~

Nothing to be afraid of

Do you have a smocking pleater you've never used? Do you pleat inserts & yoke dresses, but have never tackled a bishop? Are you scared of your pleater? In this class you will learn all

the ins and outs of your pleater! You will pleat samples of cotton, silk, and corduroy, as well as fabric with serged and French seams. We'll talk about how to fix boo-boos, too! If

you don't have a pleater but are curious, you may use one of ours!

Class Policies

Please read and understand the following before registering for a class...

1. Class fees must be paid IN FULL at the time of registration. You can register in person, by mail, or by phone.

2. A refund of store credit is provided if you cancel 1 week prior to the start of class. If the cancellation is less than one

week prior to class, no refunds will be given.

3. If Savannah Sewing Center must cancel a class due to lack of participation (fewer than 3 students), the class fee may

be transferred to another class or refunded.

4. Class minimum is 3 students and space is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

5. Children or your guest cannot accompany you to class without paying the registration fee.

6. In order to keep class fees to a minimum, keep the lights on, and the roof over the store, we ask for your cooperation

and offer a 10% discount to purchase your class supplies at Savannah Sewing~ Colonial Quilts.

7. Supply lists will be emailed to you when registering online, If registering in person, you will be given your supply list. We

ask that you come to class prepared with the required supplies.

8. Students are required to bring a sewing machine and basic sewing supplies to each class. Basic sewing supplies in-

clude: Scissors, thread, seam ripper, marking pencil, rotary cutter, ruler, etc.

9. If you miss a class, no make up classes will be scheduled.

10. Each student must have a LEGAL copy of the pattern or book. (no photocopies-pattern sharing)

11. Class will start on time, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early and be set up and ready to start. If your class begins

at 10 am, the teacher will be there for you to arrive 15 minutes early.
