QUILTS & KREATIONS 2017/2018 WINTER 2017/2018 Dear Friends, It is once again time to dust off those sewing machines. We have a several classes for you to choose from. Im sure that we have a class that will appeal to each and every one of you. Our staff, Lisa, Susan, Charlotte and myself are dedicated to serving you and helping you reach your fullest potential as a quilter. To kick off the Christmas season we will hold our annual Christmas Open House on Saturday November 18. All in stock merchandise will be 20% off. Select Christmas fabrics will be 30% off. Its a great time to purchase your supplies for the holiday gifts you will be making. You may also pick up your BERNINA Holiday Booklet at this event. BERNINA is offering several gift with purchase”. This was a huge success last year, and they are once again repeating the promotion. It is the perfect time to buy a new machine. We will also be selling some of our shop samples at our Christmas Open House, you just may find something that would be perfect for someone on your gift list. It has been an exciting year for BERNINA. They have released several new machines to their line. The 880 Plus has upgraded their embroidery features. The new 5 Series have colored screens, larger bobbins to hold more thread and most of all, a 8 1/2” space from the needle to the machine. Embroidery modules are optional on many of the 5 Series. A modern sewing machine must perform many tasks and be adaptable to the individual needs of it user. BERNINA has many options to fit every sewers needs. You will want to stop in and see what BERNINA has to of- fer you. We have several machines that are being closing out at some great prices. Dont miss the opportunity to buy a BERNINA at a great price. There are so many people in need this holiday season. Quilts & Kreations has always done a give back programto our community for the past 25 years. With your help, we have donated to the Toys for Tots program, the Veter- ans Home, the battered womens shelter, the rape crisis center and the local food banks. This year we are asking for your help to keep the homeless warm over the winter. We will be collecting donations for the local homeless shelter, starting November 18 until December 20. We will be collecting warm socks, hats, scarf's, gloves and new blankets. We will also be collecting new and gently used CLEAN coats. Please remember there are also women and children that are homeless, we will also be accepting women and children items. When you bring in items, you will be en- tered into a drawing for a Quilts & Kreations gift certificate. Two gift certificates will be awarded. We thank you in advance for your generous support. The NFL will be holding its Super Bowl game on Sunday February 4. Quilts & Kreations will be celebrating that event by holding our annual Super BoltSale on Saturday February 3 and Sunday February 4. More information will be sent out via constant contact to your email address prior to our annual Super BoltSale. I am starting to plan a bus trip to the AQS Quilt Show in De Moines, Iowa that will take place the first week of October 2018. We will also be visiting Missouri Star Quilter in Hamilton, Missouri. This will be a 4 night, 5 day trip. At this time I am just in the planning stage and more information with exact dates and price will follow in our next newsletter. If you are interested, please let us know. I am sure this trip will fill quickly. Dear Friends, It is once again time to dust off those sewing machines. We have a several classes for you to choose from. I’m sure that we have a class that will appeal to each and every one of you. Please Note: When registering for our classes, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your seat in that class. No class fees will be refunded, or transferred to another class should you decide to withdraw from class, within 5 working days prior to class. Class deposit will be refunded if class enrollment is not met by a minimum of four. Supplies are not included unless specified. All supplies purchased at the shop specifically for a class offered at QUILTS & KREATIONS, receive a 10% discount. Our classes are rated, Beginner (B), Intermediate (I), Advanced (A). This will help you select a class suited to your abilities. If a class requires you to bring your sewing machine to class, a BYOM will be printed by the class description. If you do not have a machine that you can bring to class, we have Bernina sewing machines that can be rented for $5.00 per class.

Instructions included Lisa made our model of this quilt using a new Christmas line of fabric from Moda. If you are looking to make a Christmas quilt, you will want to choose Christmas fabrics to construct your quilt. But, this design would look fabulous using any color choice of fabric. This quilt measures 63” X 72”

Are you looking for a fun stocking stuffer for you family this year. If so, join us for a fun time to make lined quilted zipper pouches from empty candy bags, cookie bags, chip bags or various food bags. The zipper is easy to install. You will never look at food bags the same again. They are addicting to make. All class fees from this class will used to buy items for our Keep The Homeless Warm program.

Log Cabin Christmas Stocking

$12.00 1 class (B) BYOM You will want to join us in making a quilt as you go Log Cabin Christmas Stocking. They are fun and easy to make, the best part is that you will quilt it as you piece it. You will want to make one for every member of your family and all of your friends too. You will be doing some pre cutting of fabric and batting before you get to class. You stocking should be completed by the end of the class.

Embroidery Club Our embroidery club is free for our BERNINA customers that own embroidery machines. We will discuss new products on the market for embroidery, and give you ideas on how to get the most out of your embroidery units. Please bring “show and tell” items. You must register for this class.

Table Runner A Month

1st Class $28.00 (B/I) BYOM $13.00 Pattern Included

Join us ever month to make a seasonal table runner. We will start in December to make a snowman table runner. January you will make a valentine table runner and February you will make a St. Patrick’s Day table runner. March you will make a Easter table runner. The first month fee will be $28 and that includes the patterns for the year. Every month after that, the fee will be $15.

BERNINA Club This class is free to all of our BERNINA owners. This class is designed to help you get the most use out of your sewing machine. We will show you what all the different attachments can do for you. You must register for this class. Please bring “show and tell” items with you.

Winter In Washington

Show your patriotism this winter with a wall hanging that measures 26” X 40”. The flag wall hanging has snowflakes in place of the stars and snowflakes scattered about the flag and two snowmen throwing snowballs at each other. You may machine appliqué the stars and snowflakes by either a satin stitch or a blanket stitch. A fun project that may be hung all winter long. The fabric line Snowberry by Moda was used in our project.

This 8 week class is our most popular class for beginners. Quilts & Kreations has offered this class for the past 37 years. You will learn all areas of quilting. You will learn how to scissor cut blocks, rotary cut blocks, hand applique, and hand quilt. When you finish this class, you will be ready to tackle most any quilt project with total confidence. From crib to king size.

Nine Patch Wonder

$28.00 3 classes (I) BYOM Instructions included

Susan is once again doing her magic. She made several nine patch blocks, she sliced and diced the blocks to make this fun scrappy quilt that measures approximately 62” X 74”. The more nine patch blocks you made, the larger the quilt will be. You may also a borders on to increase the size.

Sweet Sixteen

$22.00 2 classes (B) BYOM $9.00 pattern included

This 50” X 63” quilt makes a nice size throw for lounging in your recliner on those cold winter evenings. Our model is made using flannel fabrics, but cotton fabric would work well too. All you need for the top is 7 half yard cuts and 1 yard for accent and binding and some wide rick rack and you are on your way to make a quilt that goes together quickly.

Jack In The Box

$24.00 3 classes (B) BYOM pattern included

Char will guide you in the construction of this 61” X 61” quilt. You will be making 25 Jack In The Box blocks and 36 pinwheel blocks. Char used black fabric for the sashes and brightly colored fabrics for the Jack In The Box blocks. This is a fun quilt to make.

Costa Maya $28.00 3 classes (B/I) BYOM

$9.00 pattern included Choose a couple of large scale prints. Surround them with 3 blenders into a 15” courthouse step block, and you are half way there! Cut the blocks into 4 pieces and add sine triangles. You now have all of the blocks for the center of the quilt and the border blocks too. Lisa will guide you with the construction of this striking 74” X 74” quilt.

Do you have a beautiful large scale print that you love, but now sure what to do with it. If so, you will want to join us for this class. You will have the option of three different sizes to choose from, a crib, lap or queen size. Our model features a stripe border, but your focal fabric would look great as the wide border.

Binding Only Class

Do you have a stack of quilts that are quilted and just waiting for the binding to be put on but you’re not sure how to do a binding properly? If so, join us for a few hours to learn how to do so. You may bring in one of your quilts and we will give you the confidence to bind your quilt. We will teach you how to make a straight grain binding and also a bias binding. You will learn the perfect hand stitch for finishing up the binding. Bring a bag lunch.

Do you have a lot of fabric left over from previous projects, or maybe you purchased some jelly rolls or the Moda scrap bags? If so, join us for this fun class. You will have 2 sizes to chose from. Our model is made using the Moda Kansas Troubles fabric line. Add a narrow and a wide border and you will have a very striking quilt.

Instructions included Would you like a nice table topper for your kitchen table? We will show you how to make a 34” X 34” Star Spin Table Topper. All you need is a 1/3 yard of 4 different fabrics, binding fabric, batting and backing fabric. We will be working with bias, so we suggest you have some sewing experience. Bring a bag lunch.

Stain Glass Table Runner

If you like the look of stain glass, you will love these table runners. You will have the option of making a Sunflower table runner or Forget-Me-Not runner, the choice is yours. You will be using pre-make fusible bias tape to make the process go quickly. The Sunflower is 16” X 41 1/2” and the Forget-Me-Not is 16” X 44”.

Basic Of Hand Appliqué $20.00 1 class (B)

If you always wanted to learn the basics of hand appliqué then this is the class you will want to sign up for. Susan will teach you all about the basics, from the proper supplies to use, how to achieve the perfect appliqué stitch and she will even show you how easy it is to make vines. If you will be participating in our new block of the month program and are intimidated to attempt the hand appliqué blocks now is the time to learn appliqué.

Dresden Plate Wall Hanging or Table Runner

Char will be offering a class on making a Dresden Plate Wall Hanging You may choose to turn your plates into a table runner instead. She used a stripe fabric to construct her plates. If you can not find a wide stripe fabric, you may piece 2 fabrics together to get the same effect as hers. The Dresden Plate block is an traditional block that has been around forever. She will show you a fast and simple way to make the plates.

The Companion Quilt

If you have fabric left over from the Jack In The Box quilt or any other quilt that you may have made, then you will want to join Char and make a companion quilt to match. This 48” X 58” quilt with make a nice accent quilt for any previous quilt that you have made just by using your left over scraps. Char is the queen of scrap quilts, as she dislikes to have left over fabric hanging around her sewing room.

$24.00 3 classes (B) BYOM There are so many wonderful pre printed panels on the market. If you are just not sure what to do with them, Susan will give you some great ideas on how to take a pre printed panel and turn it into a beautiful quilt by cutting it apart and adding pieced blocks to it.

If you do not have time to hand quilt all of the projects that you make, then you just might want to sign up for this class. This class will take you in the right direction. We will discuss the proper supplies to use and will also practice some free motion quilting and you will learn some simple free motion decorative fill stitches. This is a great class for a beginning machine quilter.
