On Thursday May 17th we are offering a FREE Sashiko class, with the purchase of a Sashiko kit. The teacher for the three hour class is Hitmoi Fujita from QH Textiles. Bookings are essential as class number is restricted to 24 participants.

The girls have been very busy putting together a great selection of classes for this term. So please drop in for a cupper and admire all the class samples on display

As always, we have our day and evening sewing groups, at a cost of $125.00 for a 10 week term, or $15.00 for a casual class. Please contact us at the shop on 9276 2201 if you would like to join one of our sewing groups.

Robyn has two applique classes on Wednesday, one in the afternoon 12:30 till 3:00, and in the evening 6:00 till 8:30.

Gayle has two classes on Tuesday one in the morning 9:30 till 12:00 and in the afternoon 12:30 till 3:00.

I have two classes on Monday, one in the afternoon 12:30 till 3:00 and another in the evening 5:30 till 8:00 (Full). Or join me on either Tuesday or Thursday evening 6:00 till 8:30 and also Friday afternoon 12:30 till 3:00

Jackie has two classes on Thursday one in the morning 9:30 till12:00, and in the afternoon 12:30 till 3:00. As well Jackie has a sewing Sunday group once a month 10:00 till 4:00 on the first Sunday of the month.

Judith Lubieniecki from Lubi-Lou Quilting is our shop quilter. I can highly recommend Judith, as she quilts 90% of my quilts and does a beautiful job every time.

Disappearing Four Patch From a “Layer Cake” Pattern A or B (Beg) $60.00

Most of us have been gifted with or bought ourselves a “Layer Cake” just because we couldn’t resist it. A layer cake is made up of 42, 10” squares from a range of fabric. You have the choice of two patterns for this class, that uses the “Layer Cake” for the colour, and a background fabric to contrast and set off the colours. I used a white tone on tone fabric as my background and I love how both patterns worked out.

With black and white frames to calm down the over the top bright print I chose for the block centers, I think this quilt works a treat. A fast and fun quilt that goes together in no time at all.

A great starting point. Learn how to use your tools correctly and to stitch an accurate ¼” seam. This class covers the basics of cutting, stitching and re-squaring your blocks and will set you on the path to making many beautiful quilts in the future.

When this adorable fabric range arrived in the shop, we all knew straight away it was a Gayle fabric range, so we just sat back waited to see what she came up with. And she didn’t disappoint: She made this cute little quilt suitable for a dog lover or a little one. Gayle made this little cutie using the border and allover prints from the range.

“Manderley” Windmills (Int) $60.00

1 x 5 hrs with Gayle Jones 9:30-3:00 Saturday June 16th

This lovely quilt can be made from either a “Layer Cake” (Gayle’s was “Manderley” from MODA) or you can use Fat ¼’s. Gayle used a contrasting light fabric for the background, to set off all the colours in the pinwheels, and finished with a scrappy binding made from the leftovers.

Rainbow Tumbling Blocks (Beg-Int) $60.00

This is one of the quilts I have made for the new twins due in May, the second one is in the works and will be done any day now. I made this quilt with not one Y seam, a nice straight forward block. It is the colour placement that makes the pattern pop.

Margo has come up with another fabulous quilt class for this term, using the one block wonder pattern. The quilt looks like a slice has been taken out of the side. Join Margo for a fun day of cutting and stitching.

Be amazed at the blocks that quite ordinary fabric turns into when cut and stitched together into this block.

Twisting around the Pole (Beg) $60.00

Jackie made this quilt with the leftover (HST) half square triangles from previously made quilts. I think this is a great way to use up scraps that, in my sewing room, would hit the bin. I might try this instead.

Join Jackie and she will also show you how to get eight HST out of two squares of fabric.

Rainbows seem to have invaded a lot of my latest quilts, so here is another one that I think would be suitable for anyone, tot to teen.

In this quilt I traveled around the colour wheel from red back to orange, and used a rainbow-confetti print on white as my background.

This quilt is simple to make using stratas and flying geese made the easy way. A fast and fun quilt.

Kimono Stars (Int) $60.00

I have had this fabric in my stash for about 15 years, and knew that one day I would find a pattern for it. And finally I did: with it I made this quilt, and named it Kimono Stars. I am really happy with the finished quilt, and am glad I waited to find the right pattern to do this fabric justice. Learn to make accurate small flying geese blocks in this two colour positive/negative quilt.
