Back to Church Sunday
The church in America is in a state of decline. Less than 20% of Americans attend church regularly. What would happen if those of us who do attend church and enjoy it would invite someone we know who doesn’t attend church regularly?
Inviting someone to come to church with you doesn’t have to be complicated. Most people who come to church for the first time come because of a personal invitation. 7 out of 10 unchurched people have never been invited to church in their whole lives.
Thom Rainer, President of Lifeway says, “82% of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if invited. Only 2% of church members invite an unchurched person to church. 98% of church goers never extend an invitation in a given year.” Let’s be part of the 2% and invite someone to attend Sand Spring this Sunday.
Your Pastor, Mike
First, Chris and I want to extend a very heartfelt thank you for the many prayers, cards, and acts of kindness that were given for our youngest daughter, Sarah, during her recent illness. Sarah had a very high temperature that we were unable to break for over a week. This, combined with another health issue, had us
deeply concerned. We told Sarah that she now has a testimony because it was the power of prayer that led to her healing. Once again, we will be collecting baby items for young mothers during the Hanging of the Green service. These will be given to young mothers that participate in the health department's HANDS program here in Anderson County. Paper ornaments of needed items will be on a Christmas tree in the lobby Sunday. Please choose one or more items to donate. Because kids matter to God, Dana Thompson

If you have watched the news or spent any time on social media the last few days you have
become aware of the tragic events that took place in Paris, France. In times of tragedy we are often
faced with questions that are difficult to answer. One of those being, what do we do now? I would
like to encourage us as Christ Followers to join together in praying for those affected by the attacks as
well as the attackers. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus calls us to “Love our enemies and pray for those who
persecute us.” As loving and praying for those devastated families remains on our hearts may we be
intentional about loving and praying for our enemies. Despite their horrific actions and intentions
they are image-bearers of God who have sinned and are in need of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May
we pray with confidence for their salvation, because we know that our God is mighty to save!
Thanksgiving will be here before you know it and in preparation we will continue our
series titled Thank You Notes. Last Wednesday we looked at three truths of Christian Contentment
based on the life of Paul. This week we will be looking at the truth that true thankfulness disbands
our envy. Come join us as we worship in song and in truth.
