    Term 4 Week 2 25 October 2013

    Kia Ora Tatou

Welcome back to a very fast paced final term!

The teaching staff spent the first two days of the term break learning at the I Love Teaching Conference. This bi annual event provides local educators with an amazing opportunity to reenergise, revitalise and refresh ourcurrent teaching strategies and also to hear some International speakers messages of inspiration.

Feedback from our staff and all delegates has been extremely positive and we at Salford are committed toexploring this new learning over the next twelve months.

One speaker , Sam Cawthorne died in a car crash, was revived and survived his life threatening injuries. Samwas a very engaging speaker and his message of bouncing forward resonated with our team. Hes a livingexample of how important it is to stay positive, to be resilient and to keep pushing forward no matter whatchallenges come.

We acknowledge the very generous sponsorship ofthe Invercargill Licensing Trust, without theircontinuous funding and support to make our city aneducation lighthouse we would not have thesestunning learning experiences.

We have had lots of winning things happening thisweek.

Salford School Aerobics 2013 - TEAM FLCachieves national qualification.

Team TLC, consists of Jasmyn Trask, Amy Leith, andRachel Checketts. They began working together in Term1 under the guidance of Toni and Morgan Canny fromFuel Fitness & Health.

Team TLC represented the school at the Push PlayAerobics competition in June, achieving a top 10 result.

In August at the NZCAF (New Zealand CompetitiveAerobic Federation)

competition they achieved 4th place, which was anexcellent result given that there were 17 teams in theiryear group (year 4-6). The 4th place result earned thema place to represent the school at the National AerobicsCompetition in Dunedin during September.Unfortunately, with two team TLC members also being inthe schools Jump Jam group, team TLC could notperform at the Aerobics National competition as thisevent clashed with the Jump Jam regional competitionhappening the same weekend.

In addition to team TLCs excellent result at the NZCAFcompetition, Jasmyn and Rachel also performedindividual routines and achieved a 9th and 10th placingrespectively in the preliminary round. Again, this was anexcellent result with 24 individual performers in their yeargroup.

These three girls worked extremely hard on their routine, putting in extra practices before and after school, and inthe weekends. If youve never seen sports aerobics inaction, I encourage you to come along to thecompetitions next year and have a look the level ofperformance, strength, and flexibility of these kids will

stun you! Well done team TLCon youreachievements and for representing Salford School sowell on stage!
