We have now set our student achievement targets based on the mid year portfolio and AsTTle testing results. These will be reported to the Ministry of Education and the commu- nity at the end of the year. The targets are set in Reading, Writing and Mathematics across the year groups. We are currently reviewing thes e to attempt to have them approved by the Ministry in relation to National Standards. We have exciting new arrivals in the foyer fish tank! Salford is the first school in Southland to be granted a permit to have protected New Zea- land Lizards in our possession. Please check l ost property, i n the First Aid Room, to see if there are any misplaced items lurking there. CHILDREN GROWING out of their School Uniforms:  Donations welcomed. This is a valuable way of assist- ing the PTA to raise funds for School. Donations can be dropped at the Office for the Uniform Shop. If you have a purchase enquiry call into the Office. OUR FOREST GECKO’s: this variety tend to have rather dull colouration with little variation on a generally brown/grey theme, although mottled greens are seen in some species, notably the forest gecko (Hoplodactylus granulatus ). Granulatus refers to the granular texture of the skin. Our Gecko’s will give birth to live young, typically twins. This feature makes them virtually unique in the wider Gecko family, as only one species outside New Zealand has the same reproductive habit. New Zealand geckos eat any type of many different foods, in- cluding both plant and ani- mals. Their diet is primarily flies, spiders, moths etc, but they will supplement it with fruit nectar when it is avail- able. This is why we have the “baby pears” for them to eat.
