  • New Adoration Chapel! Please continue to pray for our new Chapel of Divine Mercy, scheduled to open on June 23, 2019. It will be an amazing gift for all! Pray through the intercession of St. Faustina, St. John Paul II, St. Joseph, and Mary! Next weekend is signup weekend when all will be asked to take at least an hour each week! We have about 900 families between our parishes. If everyone takes an hour, we will have plenty of people in the chapel at all times! Fr. Mike is praying and fasting that everyone will take an hour.

SVDP Blessings A year ago, the St. Vincent de Paul Society was just starting. We now have an enormous volunteer base and have served hundreds and hundreds of people! We now have a truck, a warehouse, and a store! We are truly the hands and feet of Jesus in Shelby County.

From the Desk of Fr. Mike Dear Friends, Happy Easter!! Today we celebrate that Jesus lives. There are 7 “I AM” statements in John’s Gospel: • I am the Bread of Life • I am the Light of the world • I am the Good Shepherd • I am the Door • I am the Vine • I am the Way, the Truth, the Life • I am the Resurrection and the Life

Today, at Easter, we celebrate the last two of that list in a special way. Jesus did not just come to “do” the Resurrection; he IS the Resurrection. And he invites us into His life! Check it out: Jesus came to give us life, and life to the full — both here and hereafter — and that’s what we have inasmuch as we remain in Him! I think that’s why St. Paul talks about being “caught up” in the Resurrection. You and I, thanks be to God, are members of the living, breathing, resurrected Body of Christ that we call the Church. It is a good place to be!!! We have two extra Masses this weekend to help with crowd control. All in all, between the two parishes, we have six Easter Masses. Thanks for coming. If you’ve been away a while, please know we’ve missed you and would be delighted to have you back each Sunday. Some things: • Next weekend there will be First Communion

at the 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses. You may wish to attend the 5:00 p.m. Mass if you don’t have a relation to one of our 50 young people making their First Communion.

    • The Adoration Chapel is coming along...next week we will start signups!

    • SVDP is going strong...so strong! • The fence is being moved to expand our

Green Space. Many thanks to Mathies for taking care of the landscaping over there!

    • Festival: It’s only a few weeks away folks! May 9-12. Put it on your calendar and bring everyone you know.

    • St Joe Jog: May 11 at 9:00 a.m.….it’s not too late to sign up. Proceeds go to help fund the scholarship fund.

My prayers and love! Fr. Mike

Donations of cases of 12-ounce cans of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and Mountain Dew; cases of 16-ounce (16.9) bottles of water; and of 20-ounce bottles of Gatorade can be put in the Narthex or dropped off at the Parish Office. God Bless all for your generosity.

Sr. Joan’s Corner Dear Parishioners, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.” Easter is the great celebration of victory of life over death. Ours is an Easter religion. We do not deny the evils that surround us: wars, poverty, hunger, discrimination and depression. We do not deny these miseries, but refuse to surrender to their power because of our faith in the resurrection of Jesus. Suffering and death will be overcome; a new life will arise: this is the Easter message. “Let us feast with joy in the Lord.” Just as Christ passed through death to resurrection, so too will we pass through suffering to the glory of a new life. There is no room for despair: our Easter faith tells us that God will “raise us up and renew our lives”. If you have been practicing some good habits during Lent, why not continue them during the Easter Season and beyond? This is how, with the help of God, we can renew our lives. Let us continue to celebrate Easter for the next fifty days! Sr. Joan We joyfully share our gifts to nourish the community. ---- St. Vincent Purpose Statement

  • Explanatory Mass Dear Friends,

Fr. Mike and I are very excited to share with you this very special announcement! Fr. Mike will offer an Explanatory Mass at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24th in St. Joseph Church. The Mass will be offered as a celebra-tion of the conclusion of our Lenten Book, Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist. The Mass will be exceptional in that Fr. Mike will take time to explain (hence, Explanatory Mass) the “what and why” of each rite within the Holy Mass. The Mass will reveal the marvelous gift Jesus gave his Apostles, the Church and us when he offered the Last Supper. All are wel-come to attend!

    Blessings and Peace, Deacon Tom

Divine Mercy Novena Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Fausti-na an intention to pray for on each day of the No-vena, saving for the last day the most difficult in-tention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent. In her diary, St. Faustina wrote that Jesus told her: "On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy ... On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls." Please go here to pray this novena: https://www.ewtn.com/devotionals/mercy/novena.htm

Divine Mercy Celebration St. Joseph and St. Vincent churches are hosting a joint Divine Mercy Prayer Service on Sunday, April 28th at St. Vincent’s Church from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Fr. Mike will lead the celebration.
