OF KINGS AND KINGSHIP Americans have an uncomfortable relationship with kings. The American Revolution was fought for independence from King George, after all. Nonetheless, today every Catholic church around the world celebrates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Today’s feast invites us to look beyond our national loyalties and rejoice in our primary identity. We are children of God in Jesus, Christ the King. Our readings help us consider what it’s like to belong to God’s kingdom. The book of Samuel captures the deep longing of the Israelites for a king to shepherd them. Saint Paul reminds the Colossians that we belong to the kingdom of Christ, whose power he praises in a beautiful hymn. Finally, Luke’s Gospel calls to mind the kind of king Jesus chooses to be—a suffering servant, a man for others. By sacrificing his life for us, Jesus throws open the gates of Paradise.

DE REYES Y REINADOS Los estadounidenses tienen una relación incomoda con los reyes. La Revolución Estadounidense se peleó para lograr la independencia del Rey Jorge, después de todo. Sin embargo, hoy cada iglesia católica alrededor del mundo celebra la Solemnidad del Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo. La celebración de hoy de la Iglesia nos invita a ver más allá de nuestras lealtades nacionales y regocijarnos en nuestra primera identidad. Somos hijos de Dios en Jesús, Cristo el Rey. Nuestras lecturas nos ayudan a considerar cómo pertenecer al Reino de Dios. El libro de Samuel captura el profundo anhelo de los israelitas por un rey que los pastoree. The Altar Servers assist the priest and the deacon in helping to bring the assembly to a fuller understanding of the liturgy and a greater love for God.
We are recruiting NEW volunteers who want to become Altar Servers. Children and teens who have received First Communion and attend Mass on a regular basis are welcome to service in this beautiful ministry. Training will be provided.

The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop. The initial recipient of a Seven Sisters group is their parish pastor; the intention is directed towards the office of the shepherd more than the individual. We would like to begin this prayer apostolate at St. Michael and are seeking seven women who feel called to offer the prayerful sacrifice of one Holy Hour a week on the same day each week for the sole intention of our Pastor. Please consider taking an ornament or two and put a big smile on a face of a needy child or senior. By taking an ornament you intend to return a wrapped gift with the ornament attached by the return date. Please, do not take an ornament unless you truly plan to buy a gift. Las tarjetas de regalo (gift cards) serán principalmente utilizadas para ayudar a comprar cena de Navidad para familias con necesidad. Por favor considera tomar un adorno o dos y pon una sonrisa en la cara de un niño o viejecito. Al tomar un adorno se espera un regalo envuelto, con la esfera afuera de regreso en la fecha estipulada. Por favor, no tomes una esfera si realmente no vas a traer un regalo. El año pasado hubo niños que no recibieron regalo porque su esfera fue tomada y ningún regalo entregado. PRAYERS AND SQUARES
The Prayers and Squares Quilting Ministry ladies will be raffling 2 quilts for Christmas. They will be selling raffle tickets after the Sunday Masses this weekend November 24th. The raffle tickets are $5 for a pack of 6 tickets or $1 for each ticket. The winners will be notified on December 2nd. Every Monday this beautiful group of compassionate quilters join in making beautiful prayer quilts which are prayed over to bring comfort and healing to parishioners in need. Each unique quilt is a reminder of Christ’s love and healing power.
El Ministerio de Prayers and Squares están rifando 2 colchas para Navidad. Estarán vendiendo los boletos después de la misa del domingo, 24 de noviembre. How can we HELP ? ¿ Cómo podemos AYUDARTE ?
…that visiting the Blessed Sacrament for adoration lasting at least half an hour, you can gain a plenary indulgence for yourself or for a suffering soul in purgatory. An indulgence is the only way we can help a soul get the door to Heaven opened, since they can´t do it themselves. You must be baptized, in state of grace and with an interior disposition of detachment from sin. As soon as possible after adoration: confess, receive Communion, pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, pray one Our Father and one Hail Mary. Just think of the number of souls you help out of purgatory, and in turn what friends they will become helping you get to Heaven. Next adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is on December 6TH.
...al visitar el Santísimo Sacramento en adoración de al menos media hora, puedes ganar indulgencia plenaria para ti o para un alma que sufre en el purgatorio. Con una indulgencia es la única manera en la que a un alma que sufre en el purgatorio se le abren las puertas del Cielo, ya que ellas no pueden hacerlo solas. Debes ser bautizado, en estado de gracia y con disposición de no pecar. Después de la adoración: confiésate, comulga, reza por las intenciones del Santo Padre, reza un Padre Nuestro y un Ave María. Sólo piensa en el número de almas que ayudaras salir del
purgatorio y a cambio los amigos que tendrás para ayudarte a llegar al Cielo. La siguiente adoración al Santísimo Sacramento es el 6 de diciembre .
