~B O W ~ Suggested text for faith sharing:
Today’s Second Reading from St. Paul
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ W J 18, 2017
T : The Eucharist is the center of our faith.
S O : L W As you listen to the words of this challenging section of Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, what catches your ear? What single word or phrase lingers now in your memory?
Q C : How does receiving Holy Communion change how you treat those around you?
Q Y : Jesus tells us that through the Eucharist we will remain in him and he is us. How does the Eucharist keep you in relationship with Jesus?
Q A : Share one way that the Eucharist connects us as “one body” – how does it change the way we relate to each other?

“Threads of Love”—Prayer Shawl Ministry
* Change of Meeting Place* We gather every 1st and 3rd Tuesday. Choice of Afternoon- 12:30pm or Evening - 6:30pm. Groups will meet at St. Mary’s School while the church is being refurbished. There is no meeting on Tuesday July 4. New members are always welcome. We knit and crochet prayer shawls for those who are ill and for the bereaved. We also make Baptismal garments for the wee ones. Patterns and instructions are available. We provide the yarn. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we have been able to provide yarn for those who prayerfully labor creating these beautiful shawls. If you would like to support Threads of Love but cannot participate, please consider a donation to help us defray the cost of yarn. Please call or text Peg Feyl at 973-886-4001 for information or request a shawl for a friend or relative. Registration forms are available in the Narthex.
After several months of meetings and planning, our Church Renovation Committee has finalized plans and contracts to renovate our church interior. Due to the limited time frame available to perform the work, a 2-Phase Program has been put in place, with Phase 2, flooring and seating, occurring in 2018.
The scope of renovations for this Summer include the much-needed plaster repairs to the ceiling and walls, a complete repainting program, replacement of the wainscoting panels on the walls, a new lighting and speaker system, and other "finishing touches" to the church interior. Also the remediation with regards to the asbestos on the ceiling.
Through the generosity of our Parish contributions to the Diocesan Partners in Faith Program, we will be able to fund our 2017 Program. It is also planned to complete the renovation program in 2018 with new pews, or re-stripping the old pews, and flooring, with our rebates from the Partners in Faith Program.
However, in order to perform these renovations, it will be necessary to close the church to the public from June 22 through August 19. Daily and weekend masses will be held in our school auditorium for this 8-week period. The Committee asks for your patience and understanding with these inconveniences during the coming months, with the hope and expectations for a new, fresh look for our beloved St. Mary’s church.
Sincerely, Scott Patterson, Church Renovation Committee Chairman

RCIA — Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Church Renovation Update
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is meant for those who:
- have never been baptized but are curious about Christ and all He taught;
- have been baptized in other Christian traditions, but have an interest in Catholics and the Catholic Church;
- are already baptized Catholic but have never received Eucharist and/or Confirmation.
These are the people the Rite of Christian Initiation seeks to reach and to serve. We are accepting enrollment for the 2017-18 session. The session starts in the Fall and candidates receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil in March.
Perhaps you know someone who may have questions about the faith, the process of RCIA, or a desire to be received into the Church. Think about it, pray about it, and offer an invitation.
Anyone interested is asked to contact Andrea Henry, RCIA Coordinator at [email protected] or call 973-714-6844.
Bereavement
“Seasons of Hope” will begin again late- August 2017. Because summer is a time when most people want freedom from schedules, during summer months we do not schedule any new programs.
As the group comes together we will determine the exact starting date based on participants’ schedules.
Our“ “Seasons” Program runs for 8 consecutive Wednesday evenings ending with a service of remembrance. ONGOING SUPPORT: “Seasons – The Journey” meets every 2nd Thursday of the month in the Narthex of the Church. “The Journey” is open to anyone who has attended any of our 8-week Seasons Programs. Registration forms are available in the Bereavement Literature Rack in the Narthex. During the month of July there is no Journey Meeting. We are planning our Annual Picnic which is scheduled for 5:30 on the 2nd Thursday in August on the parish grounds . For more information please call or text Peg Feyl at 973-886-4001 or email [email protected]
The Little Sisters of the Poor from St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in Totowa will be visiting our parish on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 = 25, 2017. “God uses creation to bring us into loving relation-ship with himself, most notably through the sacra-ments. We experience this most powerfully in the Eucharist, the true body and blood of Christ, re-ceived under the appearance of bread and wine, where ‘all that has been created finds its greatest exaltation’ (LS 236).”
