INVITATION

PLEASE JOIN YOUR FELLOW

PARISHIONERS AS WE SAY BID FAREWELL TO

RICHARD CLAWSON

TODAY (SUNDAY), AUGUST 28 AFTER THE 10:00 A.M. MASS

IN COGSWELL HALL.

Stephen Ministry: In June, three parishioners went to a Stephen Leader Training Course. The week long classes taught them the necessary tools needed to prepare lay ministers to provide help, hope, and healing to others when faced with life’s burdens. The Stephen Leaders are as follows:

JoAnn Czerwinski (left), has been a parishioner for over 10 years. A retired social worker, she has been active in various parish and community ministries and services, such as Family Promise and the Lawrenceville Co-operative Ministry.

Mary Riddett (center), was a parishioner from 1980 to 2001 and rejoined in 2015 after being at St. Jude the Apostle Church. She has been a Catechist, aide, lector and parish nurse. She serves as a

Eucharistic Minister.

Trudy Turner (right), has been a parishioner since 1982. She has been a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister, and Small Christian Com-munity Leader. Recently, she completed a Clinical Pastoral Education Internship at Gwinnett Medical Center.

Please pray for these leaders and for those who will be stepping forward in the near future to serve as Stephen Ministers in this worthy ministry of Christian Caring. We will begin training Stephen Ministers in January, 2017. “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17

For further information, contact Trudy Turner, 404-234-2891.

In Pledges, we have Reached Our Goal for the 2016 Archbish-op’s Annual Ap-peal! Thank You!

And so NOW … thé challéngé rémains to fulfill thosé plédgés in thé remaining four months of the year. Remember that all funds donated to the AAA above our parish goal of $162,000 return to St. Lawrence for the further reduction of our parish construction debt. FROM THE PASTOR’S HAND

Every ending has a beginning. As Richard Clawson makes his farewell today, we bid welcome to a college seminarian, Alan Salazar, who is tak-ing a temporary leave and studying at GGC nearby. The Vocations Director asked me, and I was glad to oblige, to take him in to reside in the rectory during this time of Alan’s continued discernment. While a full-time stu-dent and not assigned to the parish for ministry in the way we are used to having seminarians in our community, Alan will nonetheless be helping out with Catechesis and the like. Do welcome Alan and invite him out for meals and fellowship.

In case you did not see the news on our parish Facebook Page, I am happy to announce that on September 21st our new Director of Music and Liturgy will be joining us. John Brandt has been ministering in Liturgical Music for over 20 years in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. He comes to us from St. Joseph in Marietta; previous to that he was at Corpus Christi in Stone Mtn. Before that when he was at Holy Spirit in Atlanta it was he, curiously, who was organist and music director at my ordination to priesthood in 1996! We have no recollection of one another; but it sure is a small world. We very much look forward to working together to continue the grand tradi-tion of excellent music and liturgical worship for which St. Lawrence is so well known.
