Dead Sea Scrolls These scrolls, a huge body of ancient Jewish documents, comprise the greatest manuscript discovery of the 20th century. Join presenter Earl Beck on Monday, May 8 for his talk on the nature of these scrolls and their relevance to Judaism and Christianity at 10:00 a.m. in the Divine Mercy Room. Be Still Christian contemplative prayer also known as Centering Prayer or the prayer of quiet is an ancient discipline that disposes one to an encounter with God that goes beyond words and reason. It is an art that once learned and practiced can deepen one's awareness of union with God. This session will offer both information about this practice as well as time in class to practice it. All are welcomed on Monday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. upstairs in DeSales Hall. (RCIA) Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: The disciples on the road to Emmaus recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread. If someone you know expresses a ‘burning’ desire to become Catholic or feels called to encounter the real presence of Christ in Holy Communion consider inquiring about the RCIA process by contacting Diane Maguire for adults and Gloria Kennerty for children. Adult Catholic Confirmation Adults (over 18) who were baptized Catholic but have not yet been confirmed are invited to consider participating in a special summertime preparation program that will begin Monday, May 8. Contact Diane Maguire to meet and discuss your situation at [email protected]. Live Live Today Well No one wakes up in the morning and says "I hope I have a bad day." Everyone's hopes rise with the dawn and often are dashed by dark. It doesn't have to be that way. You can't control what happens to you but you can control how you think and act in response to daily life experiences. Scripture and spiritual wisdom counsel attitudes and practices that when applied to daily life situations will engen-der a more peaceful and joy-filled life experience even on the worst of days. These will be the focus of our discussion on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Divine Mercy Room. Who Am I To Judge Learn how Catholic morality is all about love, why making a judg-ment is not judging a person's soul, and why, in the words of Pope Francis, "relativism wounds people." This insightful DVD series by Edward Sri is now being offered on Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m. in the Divine Mercy Room.
