Goodbye! Adios! Father Oscar Saint Athanasius Parishioners are very sad

because their Pastor Oscar Tabujara will be gone

but with selfishness they are also glad

because Fr. Oscar will enjoy the next few years under the sun.

We will miss his weekly wonderful editorial

    in the Sunday Parish bulletin

his writings are not only informational

    but also are highly educational!

    Goodbye! Adios, Father Oscar

We will miss you from the bottom of our hearts

Because you are not a Hollywood Oscar

But a priest by vocation not by profession.

Composed by Job Lopez Read during the retirement party for Fr. Oscar Tabujara,

on June 16, 2019 In the Saint Athanasius Parish Hall

    Remembering Lina Taskovich

Long-time parishioner Lina Taskovich passed away last Saturday after a long ill-ness. I met Lina when I first came to St. Athanasius way back in the summer of 1992 when she began at-tending our RCIA program. She had long ago completed her sacramental initiation into the church but came to get up-dated. She was a very smart professional woman and her questions were often deep and insightful. In the years that followed, Lina attended just about every adult formation program the parish offered and got very in-volved in giving her time, talent and treasure to St. Atha-nasius. For many years she helped run the St. Vincent DePaul Thanksgiving and Christmas food and gift distri-bution. In fact, a few years ago, our Food Pantry was named after her. Her fluency in Spanish and compassion for the poor was of great help to our St. Vincent DePaul Ministry. Until her recent illness, she was a regular at the 5:30pm Sunday Mass. We will miss Lina dearly and give God thanks and praise that she was part of our com-munity. I’m sure her prayers for our parish and its minis-tries, especially St. Vincent DePaul, continue now that she is with God forever.

    Mike Cavera, Pastoral Associate

Here is a listing of her upcoming services:

A Vigil will be held on Tuesday 6/25 from 4 to 8 PM, and Rosary at 6 PM at Alta Mesa Funeral

Home Chapel. Funeral Mass on Wednesday 6/26 at 10:30 AM

at Saint Athanasius Church. Interment after Mass at Alta Mesa Memorial Park. Reception following the interment in the Parish Hall
