Dear Parishioners,
The identity of Jesus is the main topic of the Gospel. It is
clear He is not the temporal king, or the famous healer, or
the wise and learned man, but a Crucified Christ.
People have different opinions about Jesus, and if we take a
look at the monotheist religions in the world, they have
different conceptions of Christ, but the key point that He is
the Son of God and the Crucified One is a treasure that
belongs to our creed, to our faith.
Our Lord was clear about that. When Peter says you are the
Son of God, Peter and the apostles were convinced about
that, but about the crucifixion; it took time for them to
understand. Even until the very day of crucifixion it was
hard for them to understand that the Son of God ended up in
that way.
After the resurrection, Jesus continued to explain everything
that was written about Him. In its history, the Church
continues to embrace the Crucified Christ and also to
understand that discipleship is associated with the suffering
of our redeemer. Whoever wants to be His disciple must
take up their cross and follow Him.
For many in our days it’s easy to follow our Lord when
everything looks good, but not in adversity, in persecution,
in the cross, in suffering. Our Lord wants to take his
disciples to that point, not just when everything is nice, but
to the cross, where there is real love. The reality of
discipleship is to proclaim Jesus in good and bad times.
Who is Jesus for you? This question is answered by the
question of who you are, your identity before God. Is Jesus
important for you, and also are you a good disciple? In the
good times and also in suffering, following a glorify Christ
and also a crucify Christ being a servant of the church. He
was a man of suffering, and by his wounds we all have been
healed. From the cross the church continues to be healed
every single day. Let us remember that especially in this
month, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Attention
Seniors
What exactly is the Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults?
The RCIA is the Catholic Church’s way
of welcoming new members with
enthusiasm and joy!
We invite you to discover and hear
about the RCIA process by attending
our upcoming RCIA Gathering on
Sunday, September 30, 2018 at
10 AM in the Parish Center
Who should come?
• Unbaptized adults or adults baptized in
another Christian tradition who would like
to explore becoming Catholic
• Baptized Catholic adults who want to be
prepared for the celebration of
Confirmation and Eucharist
• Interested members of our parish commu-
nity who want to share their faith with new
Church members
Why should you come?
• If you are inquiring about the Catholic
faith, this is an opportunity to take a step
to explore the possibility of becoming part
of the Catholic community through
Baptism.
• If you are a baptized Catholic and want to
celebrate Eucharist and/or Confirmation,
this is the way to prepare for full initiation
into our Church.
• If you are not Confirmed and wish to serve
as a baptismal godparent, this is the way
to prepare for this spiritual endeavor.
• If you are a fully initiated Catholic, this is a
way to meet inquirers and share your love
of Jesus and our Church with others.
If you know of someone in your family, neigh-
borhood or workplace who may be interested
in hearing more about the RCIA, please share
this invitation with them. All are welcome!
