FROM THE PASTOR
Happy Parish Feast Day!!
Here at Sacred Heart we transfer the Feast of the Sacred Heart to Sunday in
order to celebrate our Parish Feast Day. The Heart of Jesus is more than just a
symbol, but a reality where divine and human love meet. We can bring all of
our joys and sorrows to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and have them immersed in
the love of God! How often the image of the Sacred Heart has consoled me,
strengthened me, inspired me, and healed me!! I once again urge all of you to
place an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a prominent place in your
house and consider consecrating your family to the Sacred Heart.
A word about Mass: We are now able to admit up to 50% of our capacity,
which means we won't need to turn anyone away. However, please maintain
social distancing, be prudent, and stay away if you have a fever, cough or
other symptoms. You are still strongly encouraged to wear a mask. We have
very few cases in our area, but we want to continue to minimize the spread of
the virus.
Your new pastor, Father Pat Wendler, came to visit this week. He is very
excited to move in and get to know you. He is thrilled with the opportunity to
work with the school, happy with all of the initiatives we have going on, and
looks forward to being with you and helping the parish to continue to
grow. Thank you for praying for Fr. Pat during this transition.
One humble request: If there is any legacy I would be thrilled to leave here at
Sacred Heart, it's one of prayer, especially Eucharistic Adoration. If you have
been hesitant to make room for this in your life, please try it as a parting gift to
me. Come into the Chapel any time and spend an hour with Jesus. Talk with
him. Share your heart with him. Listen to his quiet voice in the stillness. If
you can make it on a Thursday, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be
taking place. The Eucharist is removed from the Tabernacle and placed in a
Monstrance on the Altar for us to adore. He is worthy of our time and all of
our love. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that gift of prayer. And
I know it will be a gift to you, as well!
Peace in Him,
Fr Dave

EVANGELIZATION & PASTORAL CARE
ALISON MCSHANE
EVANGELIZATION
“ . . .wherever Jesus is present, It is impossible that
nothing has changed. There, wherever He lays His hand, a
new reality has come to be. To adore is to consent to
letting ourselves also be transformed, converted,
evangelized, so as to access our true humanity. Adoration
is not a spiritual device or accessory. It is a transforming
force. "
- St. John Paul II, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 62, From
Adoration to Evangelization
“Before any activity, before the world can change, there
must be adoration.”
Benedict XVI, Address to the Roman Curia,
December 22, 2005
PASTORAL CARE

KNOW YOUR LITURGY
Religious Freedom Week is June 22-29th!
Beginning June 22, the Feast of Saints Thomas More and
John Fisher, the United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops celebrates Religious Freedom Week. Join in
promoting religious freedom For the Good of All.
“All people desire to know their Creator. All people have
a natural impulse to seek the good and to live in
accordance with that good. All people can flourish when
they pursue the truth about God and respond to the truth.
Religious freedom means that all people have the space to
flourish. Religious freedom is both an American value and
an important part of Catholic teaching on human dignity.
When we promote religious freedom, we promote the
common good and thus strengthen the life of our nation
and the community of nations. Learn more at
www.usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek!”
MUSIC
ANDREA SORENSON
SINGING IN CHURCH
With guidance from the CDC and the Diocese of Madison,
as the aspiration from singing is greater than speaking, at
this time the congregation is being asked to refrain from
singing during public masses. This gives a rare
opportunity for parishioners to spend extra time reflecting
on the prayers while we allow the cantor to give voice to
the prayer in our hearts. Psalms and hymns will be sung
by a cantor while, for the time being, Mass parts are being
spoken.
CANTORS AND CHOIR MEMBERS
Each public Mass can have one cantor so your musical
ministry can get back on track! If you are a cantor we will
be starting back up again and if you are a choir member
that feels comfortable cantoring please consider signing
up on the communication that you received by email.

SACRED HEART MOBILE FOOD PANTRY
This Thursday, June 25, our Sacred Heart Mobile Food
Pantry will once again be providing food on a drive-thru
basis. For the sake of everyone’s health and safety, we
continue to limit the number of volunteers on-site, wear
face masks, and observe social distancing. We ask that
volunteers for this distribution come ONLY if you are
called ahead of time.
Families in need of food may come by 3 p.m. Distribution
will take place from 3:30-4:30 or until food runs out. If
people need to pick up for a second household, they may
go to the end of the line and drive through again. If you
are able to give families-in-need the information about this
pantry, we would be grateful for your help.

JUSTICE AND PEACE
A Statement of U.S. Bishops’ President on George Floyd
and the Protests in American Cities reads “The killing of
George Floyd was senseless and brutal, a sin that cries out
to heaven for justice…. We should all understand that the
protests we are seeing in our cities reflect the justified
frustration and anger of millions of our brothers and
sisters who even today experience humiliation, indignity
and unequal opportunity only because of their race. It
should not be this way in America. Racism has been
tolerated for far too long in our way of life.”
The unrest that is happening in cities across this country
should be a sign for us to understand this problem.
Unequal treatment is immoral, unethical and not at all
Christian. We have to opportunity to learn, to read, to
change long held stereotypes and beliefs.
In the pastoral letter against racism Open Wide Our
Hearts, the bishops state “For people of color some
interactions with police can be fraught with fear and even
danger. People of good conscience must never turn a blind
eye when citizens are being deprived of their human
dignity and even their lives. Indifference is not an option.
As bishops, we unequivocally state that racism is a life
issue”.
PRAYER TO OVERCOME RACISM
Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has
found a way to unite himself to every human being, called
to be one people, sisters and brothers to each other.
We ask for your help in calling on your Son, seeking
forgiveness for the times when we have failed to love and
respect one another.
We ask for your help in obtaining from your Son the grace
we need to overcome the evil of racism and to build a just
society.
We ask for your help in following your Son, so that
prejudice and animosity will no longer infect our minds or
hearts but will be replaced with a love that respects the
dignity of each person.
Mother of the Church, the Spirit of your Son Jesus warms
our hearts: pray for us.
Amen.
