ABOUT PERMACONN

• Permaconn was established in 1999.

• Permaconn specialises in the design, development,

production and management of GPRS hardware &

networks.

• Permaconn provide a range of back to base

communication equipment that utilise GPRS networks.

• Permaconn has established networks in Papua New

Guinea, New Zealand, South Africa, Philippines and USA.

• The name Permaconn is an abbreviation for “Permanent

Connection”

WHAT IS GPRS?

General Packet Radio Service.

• GPRS is a packet based radio service that enables

“Always ON” connection and reporting. GPRS services

operate within the GSM networks.

• GPRS services are billed on the amount of data that is

sent and received, not individual calls like the GSM

network.

• GPRS networks sole purpose is to handle data

transmissions.

PERMACONN?

What is a Permaconn outstation?

• A Permaconn outstation is the unit that interfaces to the

alarm panel dialler. Alarm events are now sent to the

Central Station via the GPRS data network. If required

the outstation is able to communicate via IP using

GPRS for redundancy.

True Central Station Redundancy - unique to Permaconn!

Dedicated, duplicated and managed Private IP Network.

– Permaconn uses a VPN within the GPRS networks.– No GPRS connections whatsoever to the public web / internet.

There are two servers, each capable of running the whole system.

– The Servers have duplicated hardware at each site.– Each server is at a different secure location, providing total

redundancy.– Switching between the two servers is totally transparent and automatic.– The server routes the packets from the Outstation to the Central Station Receiver unit.

PERMACONN OUTSTATION FEATURES

Supplied in plastic enclosure with complete install kit.Mounts next to alarm panel with space for dedicated back up battery.

‘Plug & Play’ solution, out of the box – on the wall – submit activation form to Permaconn – test messages received. Job done within 30 mins.

High quality Telco approved Siemens GSM module 95% of installations only require the standard antenna.

Multipath Communication, Trusted and Proven monitoring solution. Four (4) comms paths, you can be assured the alarm event is delivered!

Low current draw <100mA. Can be powered directly from the alarm panel.

• Fixed transmission (data) costs.

• Multiple communication paths.

• GPRS devices are ‘ALWAYS ON’ much like your broadband

connection within your home.

• Radio devices only ‘communicate’ when an alarm event occurs & have

no ability to ‘poll’ to ensure the connection is active.

• Radio only sends a one way message you can not be sure the message was delivered.

• GPRS works wherever there is MTN or Vodacom coverage.

• Permaconn units can be installed in basements without using high

gain antennas.

• Messages can be sent from anywhere in South Africa.

• GPRS messages are delivered win 100 milliseconds.

• GPRS devices are ‘ALWAYS ON’ much like your broadband

connection within your home.
