Please Join Us Next Weekend
September 29th and 30th!
The Annual Parish Ministry Fair at St. Michael’s
will be held before and after all the Saturday and Sun-day Masses (excluding the 12:00 Noon Sunday Mass) next weekend September 29-30. The fair will include displays and tables staffed by members of all of our
parish ministries who will be providing information
about their ministry’s work, brochures, and answers to your questions. Those who are interested in learn-ing more, receiving a follow-up phone call, exploring the possibility of receiving ministry services (for ex-ample: Holy Communion brought to a loved one
who is homebound), and/or becoming a ministry volunteer (for example: lector, usher, choir member, catechist, etc.) will be able to leave their name and contact information with the ministry representatives at the tables. The Ministry Fair will provide you with a chance to consider and discern ways that you can be more fully involved in the life of our parish and utilize your talents, skills, and time to assist and serve parish and
community, as well as consider new/additional ways through which the Holy Spirit might be calling you to share of yourself and your God-given talents. Through the gifts of time and talent that our pa-rishioners so generously share we are able to truly be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our parish and community. May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire and guide our ministries and volunteers and call others to join in this unique way of living the Gospel message through service to our parish family.

Fall Campaign: September 26, 2018 to
November 4, 2018
This Fall, people throughout the country are in-
vited to take part in the 40 Days for Life effort. We
are asked to commit to prayer and fasting for an end
to abortion in America and throughout the world. In
addition to 40 days of prayer and fasting, please
consider volunteering to pray outside of Planned
Parenthood, 69 E. Newman Springs Road, Shrews-
bury, NJ.
St. Michael’s Parish will once again participate
in the very important ministry, “40 Days For Life”.
The fall campaign begins September 26 and runs
through November 4, 2018. We are partnering with
other local parishes, conducting peaceful, prayerful
vigils at the Planned Parenthood facility on New-
man Springs Road in Shrewsbury, where abor-
tions are performed.
40 Days for Life vigils are the last line of defense
for babies who are minutes away from being killed
through abortion. In fact, former abortion industry
workers report that when vigil participants are on
site, the no-show rate for abortion appointments can
be as high as 75%.
“As Catholics we have a responsibility to stand
for Life!”
Now more than ever, we need you to come and
join us. Please bring your Rosary, a friend (or two),
and stand up with us Mondays starting October 1st
through October 29th for one hour, between the
hours of 8AM and 6PM at Planned Parenthood in
Shrewsbury.
For questions, and/or to sign up, please call Mary
Richards at (732) 222-1562 or email:

ing from disaster. The Catholic Charities ministry
supports disaster response efforts with direct aid,
home repair, home rebuilding, health care services,
and other programs that enable long-term disaster
recovery. Please make any checks payable to St.
Michael’s Church. All such checks and any cash
will be forwarded in one cumulative parish-issued
check to Catholic Charities. Thank You!

Parish Day of Prayer for Vocations Saturday, November 3, 2018
Outdoor repairs and routine
maintenance continued during the
past two weeks. The red and
white New Guinea impatiens
(which proved to be a good fit
with our sunny, ocean-front envi-
ronment) were removed last
week and replaced this week with
autumn mums which we hope
will be in full bloom by our Par-
ish Ministry Fair Weekend. The
roofers completed water-
proofing repairs to the pan be-
low the pedestal under the
Blessed Mother’s statue and
returned the newly painted stat-
ue to its niche above the
church’s main entrance. The
latest roof repairs above the St.
Ann’s Chapel were also com-
pleted.
Saint Michael's parishioners submitted nearly 200 prayer intentions that were brought to the original Infant of Prague statue in Prague, Czech Republic at the be-ginning of the month by our pilgrim parishioners. The Infant promised to Father Cyr-il: "The more you honor Me, the more I will bless you!" Since then the infant Jesus has not ceased to perform miracles and to give graces to many faithful around the world. We have some Infant of Prague prayer cards (pictured below) available in the back of the church. Enjoy.
O Infant Jesus, I run to You, Begging You through Your Holy Mother To save me in this need (mention it here), For I truly and firmly believe That Your Divinity can defend me. Full of trust I hope in You To obtain Your holy grace. I love You with all my heart, I am painfully sorry for my sins And on my knees I beg You, O Little Jesus, to free me from them. My resolution is to improve And never more to offend You. Therefore, I offer myself to You, Ready to suffer everything for You And to serve You faithfully. I will love my neighbor as myself From my heart for the love of you. O little Jesus, I adore You, O Mighty Child, I implore You, Save me in this need (mention it here), That I may enjoy You eternally, With Mary and Joseph see You, And with all the angels adore You.
Amen.
MEMORAL OF ST.
FRANCIS OF ASSISI:
BLESSING OF THE PETS The Blessing of the Pets will take place on Saturday, Octo-ber 6 at 12:00 Noon on the pla-za in the front of the church. All of your pets and animals are welcome! People are wel-come, too!

you!
During the past week a number of new pledges have been received for the Annual
Catholic Appeal (ACA). Thank you! The red ink in the ACA Thermometer to the
right has now moved above the $80,000 level (73.7% of our parish goal). And
10.4% of our parish families have now responded to the campaign. Our parish
goal is $109,000. Again, many thanks to all those who have contributed most
recently and also to those who contributed earlier in the year. The need still exists
and is still urgent. If you have not responded to the Annual Appeal and have
the financial ability to make a contribution, please prayerfully consider making
a pledge to this very worthy and important cause. Pledge cards may be found in
the pews; and when completed the pledge cards may be placed in the collection
basket during the Offertory Collection at Mass or mailed to, or dropped off at, the
parish business office. Please consider helping if it’s within your ability to do so.
Thank you!

Pastoral Care
Stephen and Paduan Ministries
Our Extraordinary Ministers made fourteen (14) Communion/shut-in visits and one (2) Ste-phen Ministry visits during this past week. We pray that we have helped to bring God’s love and peace to His people in need. Those Who Care
The needs of others should be our own needs. For those who care and willingly give of themselves to others, we pray that God will re-ward them with special graces and love for their kindness and compassion. Too often we forget to thank those who do so much for others and generously give of themselves to anyone who needs their help, support and love.
Our Prayer: Heavenly Father of all living be-ings, please give me a loving and caring heart. Help me to reach out to my brothers and sisters with love and compassion.
Our Extraordinary Ministers are available for our parishioners to visit the sick; the elderly; and bring Communion. Please contact us if you need us – 732-483-0360, Ext. 120.
PARISH COUNSELING SERVICES
A joint effort of the Diocese of Trenton and
Catholic Charities provides licensed professionals for
short term counseling (up to 6 sessions) to parishion-
ers dealing with difficult issues, for example, job-
stress, family concerns and bereavement. Contact
your pastor or parish priest for additional information
and referral. The fee is $90 per session, but, if needed,
financial assistance is available through the Diocese of
Trenton Parish Counseling Services.
Please wish Michael Taylor well and keep him in your prayers. Michael (for 22 years) has provided beautiful sacred music at our Sunday 4:00 p.m. Mass and at other liturgies as our organist. He has accepted the position of Music Director at Saint Joseph’s Church in Stuart, Florida and has relo-cated there with his family. Thank you, Michael, for your many years of faithful and excellent music ministry at St. Michael’s Church. God bless!
