as a sign of the New Covenant with
Christ in the Eucharist as the source
and the summit. You may order the

Musical Notes…
Today's readings remind us that those who choose tofollow Jesus Christ must profess their faith through charitable deeds. We must take our church outside into the world and feed the hun-gry, clothe the naked, care for the sick, etc.
For today’s communion meditation, I chose Tom Franzak’s “Come and Follow Me.” The verses challenge us to “be my….” We are Christ’s hands and feet on this earth and there is so much work to be done!
Verse 1: Come, be my light, be my voice to the nations. Be my hands, be my heart for the world. Would you go where I go? Where I lead, will you follow? Would you leave ev’rything for my sake? By the power of the Spirit, ev’ryone with ears to hear it will embrace the call to love within their heart.
Verse 2: Go, take your gift to the poor and the lonely. As you love, so will I live in you. Will you feed, feed my lambs? Share your hope with the hopeless? Bring new sight to the blind in my name? With a towel and a basin, t’ward the Kingdom we will hasten, through the narrow gate that leads to Calvary.
Go, be the church! Debi Music Director

Welcome to St. Pio
GREGORY MOJCHRZAK AND
BRIAN & REBECCA PAVER
Who in your life has taught you what it means to love by faith? Ask anyone to pick their favorite foods, and many will choose pizza and ice cream. Ask them to pick their fa-vorite people, and grandparents will likely top the list. To most of us, our grandma and grandpa are special people who have nurtured us from childhood into adulthood. A warm hug, freely given cookies and candy, a chance to stay up past bedtime are spe-cial memories that only our grandparents have given us. Grandparents know how fast time flies by and that tomorrow is not promised. Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see JUST you all day, and now the day was com-plete. Grandparents create families and love by telling stories, cooking recipes passed down for generations, and discov-ering new things together--Remembering old memories while making new ones. A great example of affection is in the story of Naomi and her daughter in-law Ruth. Naomi's son (Ruth's husband) died and Ruth married another relative and gave birth to a son. "Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse" (Ruth 4:16). Even though this baby was not genetically her grandson, Naomi adopted him as such and became his caregiver. Grandparenting can come in many forms and should not be limited to those who are related biologically. In this day and age of broken families and blended families, there are numerous op-portunities for older generations to devel-op affectionate, care-giving relationships with children who need that. We respect and honor our older generations. Grand-parents strengthen us with prayer, bless us with love, and encourage with hope. On the first Sunday after Labor Day we cele-brate National Grandparents Day. This year the date falls on September 12th. . To the many Grandparents, and those who fill in the role of Grandparents, with thanks we pray: Lord God almighty, bless our grandparents with long life, happiness, and health. May they remain constant in your love and be living signs of your pres-ence to their children and grandchildren. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen Tina Bullis, Christian Service

PRAYER TO
Padre Pio
FOR HEALING
Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, obedient father, you loved the
sick and infirm more than yourself because in them you saw Jesus. In the name of God you performed miracles
of healing in body, soul and mind.
Your intercession with God healed the ills of past and present and strengthened peo-ple to respond with confidence to future challenges. Those who came to you re-
gained a sense of spiritual integrity as you rekindled hope in their lives, and encour-
aged them to renew the spirit in their hearts.
Through the intercession of Our Heavenly Mother, may we experience your powerful assistance and be healed in our bodily and spiritual needs. Gratefully give praise and
thanks to God for all His blessings.
Amen
Act of Spiritual
Communion My Jesus,
I believe that You are present
in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You
into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my
heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen

Gracious God, our world changed with the 9-11 attacks 20 years ago. We have seen how easily buildings can fall and how quickly lives can end. As we remember 9-11, may it remind us that you are our only
true security. Give us your strength to face the memory of this attack and the changes it made in our lives. Give us your compassion to help
each other and recognize need around the world. Give us your hope as we face an uncertain future. Give comfort to the families who lost a
loved one twenty years ago and to all the American soldiers who have since given their lives for our freedom.
In the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
