Seminar at the Budokan in Naha, Okinawa”
The Classical Life Protection Arts of Okinawa as learned by Taika Oyata have come fullcircle with Mr. Gossett, Hanshi’s visit to Okinawa. From Mr. Oyata bringing a deeperunderstanding of kata to his students in America in the 1970’s to the returning of his teachingsto the Budokan by Mr. Gossett, Hanshi this past Sept. 2013 is truly historical. Mr. Steve Stark,Hanshi was scheduled to be at this event but with the passing of his father was not able to attend.
Special Thanks to Mr. Jack Musick, Mr. James Pankiewicz owner of the Dojo Bar & Cafe, and his wonderful staff, and Mr. Miguel Da Luz, Editor for the “Karate News Tsushin." If it was not for their efforts of hosting and planning this Demo/Seminar it may never of cometogether.

This is a huge event with up to 55,000+ people attending throughout the weekend watching Okinawanperforming art groups from Hawaii and Okinawa, including music, Uta Sanshin, Eisa Drumming, OkinawanKarate and Kobudo, Ryukyu Buyou (Okinawan classical dance) and Taiko. When the Hui Okinawa KobudoTaiko Group performed Mr. Gossett Hanshi was invited to perform a Eku kata. Regretfully with the timerestraints that were on him, Mr. Gossett could not stay long in Hawaii this visit and was off to Okinawa.
