CMJ University, Shll long (Meghalaya) hasbeen established bY an act of StateLegislature as a Private University and isempowered to award degrees as specifiedby the UGC under Section 22 of UGC Act,1956 at i ts main campus in regular modewith the approval of Statutory bodies ICouncils, wherever required.

CMJ University, Shil long (Meghalaya) is notauthorized to open study centre/off campuscentre beyond the terrrtorial jurisdict ion ofthe State as per the judgement of Hon'bleSupreme Court of India in the case of Prof.Yash Pal Vs State of Chhatt isgarh. TheUniversity can not open its centre evenwithin the State as per the provision of UGCRegulations, 2003 without the approval ofUGC
