Call to Action It is with great enthusiasm that we unveil a new look for the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce Newsletter. Every first and third Tuesday, this lovely bit of content covering Yarmouth business will enter your inbox, inviting you to engage in the issues that matter most.

The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce is a reflection and amplifier for the decisions facing town businesses and the community we serve. In order to move in the right direction, it is critical for us to actively promote 2-way communication and increased community engagement. We forge ahead with the goal of strengthening partnership among four key constituencies: Chamber Members, Economic Development Leaders, Yarmouth Citizens and Neighboring Towns.

So this Newsletter is not merely a recap of what has been; it is a call to action. We will include items that are currently under debate, and invite you to join the conversation. We will highlight areas of opportunity and resources for your business. We will give you a voice. We might even be a bit controversial from time to time. It’ll be fun. It’ll be respectful. Hopefully it will be valuable.

It is in that spirit that I issue my first call to action:

Take a moment to think about what you want to get from your Chamber Membership. Reflect on

what will help you achieve your goals. Be honest. Then Email, call (207) 846-3984 or stop by 162

Main Street with your ideas and wishes, and we will customize a partnership that perfectly aligns

with your 2016 goals.

Cheers,

Andrew T. Smaha | Executive Director

A Rising Tide Amy Handy of Clay Play Yarmouth came up to us at the most recent PM

Connections at People’s United Bank (shame if you missed it) with a very simple

but elegant suggestion. Her business relies heavily on word-of-mouth, with a

healthy dose of social media marketing sprinkled in to help generate buzz and new

leads.

As with most social media efforts, the goal is clicks, likes, shares and other easy

methods of engagement to help open up future messages to a whole new

audience. We asked Amy our favorite question: “How can we help?” Her answer...

“Like me!!!!!”

Well Amy, we definitely like you and your fellow Chamber Members do, too. So it’s

time to show that love. HERE is a link to Clay Play’s Facebook page. Go to it. Click

Like. Then when FB prompts you to invite friends to Like her page...invite them as

well. It takes a moment, and could make a big difference.

it’s called social media for a reason

The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce has over 200 members. Many of you have

social media accounts. We will be compiling a full list of links to you as quickly as

we can, then will give each of you an opportunity to take 30 minutes out of your day

to promote your neighbors. Let’s be a loud, proud community and promote one

another….and help spread the word that Yarmouth is a one-stop destination for

any goods or service you could possibly need.

speaking of….

Do you follow the Chamber? Our own social media pages offer the most up-to-date

information regarding events, voting, accolades and community happenings. Links

on the right-hand sidebar.

Issues That Matter

Four important initiatives that you need to know about.

1. Yarmouth Favorites Voting is open on our website and in The Notes,

winners will be presented at the Chamber of Commerce Open House on Oc-

tober 22nd.

2. We have traditionally held the Annual Meeting in November, but it’s a

tough time of year and we want full participation. Instead, we will set aside

time in early January for our full Membership to get together in a town hall

forum to set the Chamber’s 2016 agenda and vote on new Board Represent-

atives. Plus, there will be donuts.

3. Yarmouth Chamber Awards will be presented live at this year’s Boast N

Toast on Wednesday December 9th. More than ever, BNT will be a fes-

tive celebration of the entire Yarmouth Business Community and all of your

accomplishments. We anticipate 250 attendees.

4. Every month, the Board of Directors meets to discuss issues our business

community is facing, then determines a course of action on behalf of all of

you. Contact Andrew to bring forth an issue for the Board to discuss, and let

your voice be heard!
