3-Dimensional Large-scale Shaking Table This facility enables examination and research of
earthquake conditions and the earthquake resistance levels of structural materials through the reproduction of actual vibratory conditions that occur during major earthquakes.
MAIN RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES OF PWRI (1) PWRI has performed various experiments for advanced technology
development through using the following testing facilities.

Test Facility for a Full-Scale Tunnel Lining Half-circular shape with an outside diameter of 9.7m 34 of oil pressure cylinder with a loading up to 500kN
per cylinder
Pavement Test Field A facility to evaluate the durability of road surfaces
using an automatically operated vehicle. Four trucks that are unmanned and autonomously
controlled can travel simultaneously along loops.
MAIN RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURES OF PWRI (2) PWRI has performed various experiments for advanced technology
development through using the following testing facilities.

Cold-Region Test Track in Tomakomai Frozen snow road surface making is possible in winter
for the large scale test use of the road research. Total Area of Test Track 21ha Length of Track 2,700m
Ishikari Blowing-Snow Test Field Tests under blowing-snow are possible on a real scale at
the time of snowstorm weather. The following experiment and observation facilities are
at the field. Weather station, ITV cameras, Road lighting, Video recorder,
Variable message board, Fixed-post delineators with arrow-shaped pointers, Visibility boards, Snow particle counter, Snowdrift Experiment Road, Snowfence Experiment Facilities
