Parents and students are invited to meet the teachers on Tuesday 20 th February, from 5:00-6:00pm. The pool will be open for swimming, as long as parents supervise their children. A BBQ will be set up outside the pool area so that everyone can have ONE free sausage. Ask your child to introduce you to their teacher, chat, and mingle. Significant Roll Growth During December and January we enrolled over 40 students, which means we have more than replaced all the Year 8’s who left at the end of the year. We have started with more students than we had at the end of the year, and are still to get all the local children who will turn 5 during the year. All syndicates are larger than we expected, especially Team 1. We will be employing an extra teacher in Team 1 as soon as possible, to reduce the class sizes a little. We will likely employ another later in the year. This is creating a pressure point for classroom spaces and extra teachers that we are negotiating urgently with the Ministry of Education about. Please be patient as we seek to resolve this. Roll Growth adds pressure to bus loads The dramatic roll growth has also put pressure on bus loadings. We will be in discussions with the bus network next week to look to address this. If an agreeable solution cannot be found it might be necessary to remove ineligible students from the buses. Any students using school buses to attend a school that is not their closest school is technically not entitled to do so, and may be asked to make other travel arrangements, so that those who are eligible have room on the bus. Those children will receive a letter explaining this, if it comes to that.
