• State Climate Office (SCO) of North Carolina developed a Multi-sensor Precipitation Estimate (MPE) website for NCDOT – Highway Stormwater Program.
• Enables engineers to closely monitor estimated precipitation amounts at NCDOT construction sites across the State.
• User identifies location (lat/long) and receives an email alert when precipitation exceeds established thresholds.
• 720 Active Users.
• In 2009, NC Division of Water Quality accepted method as alternative to standard rain gauge method for permit compliance.
