render ptex using mental ray
DESCRIPTION
Mental Ray look up node enables one to render scene files that have ptex texturesTRANSCRIPT
It is first of all edit the maya.rayrc file found in the Maya2013/mental ray folder
Add the lineregistry "{_MI_REG_CCMESH_PTEX}" value "on" end registry
Now to check out the render inside Maya via a simple model of Mudbox.
Open Mudbox and use one of the simple model available there;
Go (page down) to the base layer 0Setup the Ptex (Mesh>>Ptex Setup)

Select the model and Send to Maya
Inside Maya notice that the file has the texture displayed in Viewport 2.0 but not in render window

The rendered frame is using Mental Ray
Open the HyperShade/NodeEditor/Persp View
Map the material
Create Node by clicking on the <tab> Key and type Mib_This will bring a dropdown of options sellectMib_ptex_lookup
Copy the path name of the ptex file from the file node
Ptex render Page 3
And paste the same in the Filename of mib_ptex_lookup
Connect the mib_ptex_lookup to the color input of the material (which will automatically disconnect the previous file input)
Select the Model and go to the mental ray ApproximationWindows>>rendering Editors >>Mental Ray >> Approximation Editor
