Reception: ‘My Learning Newsletter’ English Maths Adventure time… Last week, you read all about Mouse going on his adventure. Now it is your turn to take your own teddy on an adventure around your home. I bet they get up to so much fun! After you have taken your toy for their adventure, can you create a story map showing us their adventure? Reading comprehension... Read the story ‘At the Patch’.Can you answer some of the questions using the story to help you? Sentence writing… Using your phonic knowledge, can you write a sentence for each of the words using our new sound ‘wh’. Counting in 2’s… This week in maths, we are going to be looking at counting in 2’s. On the Maths Activity 1 slides, you will find some activities which require you to count in 2’s. Use the number line to help you count on 2 each time. Counting in 2’s song… We just know that you are going to love our new song by Jack Hartman. Look on the Maths Activity 2 slide and follow the link to start singing our new song. Weight… This week, we are also going to be looking at weight. You all know that some things are heavy but some things are light! Have a look at the pictures on the Maths Activity 3 slide and sort the items into two groups: heavy and light. We want you to take your own teddy bear for an adventure!

We wonder what kind of things your teddy bear will get up to?

After you have taken your teddy bear for an adventure, you will be able to create your own story map of your teddy’s adventure.

Mum, dad and I went to the patch. It was a big patch. Mum, dad and I got one. Dad set it in the bin. Thud! It was the best one in the patch.

At the patch, there was a witch. She had a big batch of them. Chop. Chop. Chop. She set them in a big pot. The pot was hot. Mum, dad and I had a bit. MMMmmm…

Next, we went to the toss. They sent them up, up, up. A dog went to fetch them. But they went plop. There was a big mess. It was fun.

We had pie from the patch. It was the best pie. Mum said, “Yum! Yum!” Dad went, “Chomp. Chomp.” I had a lot. Mum, dad and I had a lot of fun at the patch.
