A vacaon rental license is required. A vacaon rental is defined as a dwelling unit with up to six sleeping rooms that are available for rent or for hire, for transient occupancy by guests which are not owner-occupied. Requirements to obtain a license include: Department of Buildings inspecon; a Department of Zoning board review; and an applicaon filed with the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protecons. Following is a sample list of global regions with short-term rental legislaon on the books. This list is not meant to be comprehensive. The short-term rental period may not be for less than seven nights. The owner of a property must first secure a permit for short-term rentals. Permits are only available to those in the private housing market. The short-term rentals are subject to the 5.5% tourist tax. In March, the president of France signed into law “Bill ALUR,” a naonal housing legislaon. The law says that wherever people live in France, they can occasionally rent out the home in which they live. Hosts are responsible for collecng tourist taxes from guests. Hosts can rent out a private room or occasionally rent out their private residence without a permit. Hosts, however, need a license to rent out other properes they own but don’t live in. A 40-year-old law says that Londoners who wish to rent out their property for less than three months have to seek permission from the local government. In June, the government announced plans to scrap the law. A short-term rental home permit is required to be approved by the Planning Department. A home inspecon is required. Hosts are required to have an “accessory short-term rental” permit. Short-term rental rooms require an inspecon by the Bureau of Development Services. Hosts have to pay the occupancy tax of 11.5%. A guest log book with names and home addresses for overnight guests, with guest’s license plate numbers if traveling by car, dates of stay and the room assigned each guest must be maintained and available to the city staff upon request. Hosts must provide a Neighborhood Noce to property owners abung or directly across from their property as a courtesy. Only permanent residents can offer short-term rentals. A new city registry for hosts will be established. The 14.5% hotel tax must be paid on the rentals. Enre home rentals are limited to 90 days per year. Each lisng is required to carry $500,000 in liability insurance. Guidelines for enforcement are established by the Planning Department..
