Metipranoioi Pharmacology of Beta-blocking Agents and Use of Metipranolol in Ophthalmology Contributions to the First Metipranolol Symposium, Berlin 1983

Edited by H.-J. Merte

1984. 73 figures (one in color). Approx. 180 pages. ISBN 3-211-81824-3.

When a compound and its various effects are discovered there is still a long way ahead until it is available as a finished product. Before it reaches the physicist, the substance is examined in a research sequence by chemists, pharmacologists, and pharmacists - just to mention a few of the most important stages. As a result of such extensive research and development work a new antiglaucomatous product containing the beta-blocking compound metiprano-101 was presented in 1982. A series of investigators at many different centers participated in this work and, at the invitation of Messrs. Dr. Gerhard Mann, the manufacturers, came together for discussions at a symposium held in Berlin in January 1983, reporting on the experiences they had made with the new substance. As the contributions were of great interest and practical importance, it was decided to make them generally available as a book. This book has met with great interest and has been very readily accepted, as it fills a gap in the literature on beta-blocking agents.
