I'm an Architecture student

I am currently studying Architecture and Urbanism inBrazil, in the course’s 3rd year, and I am appreciating it alot. I really enjoy spending my time designing and discussingarchitecture.

I hope the knowledge I will acquire in the UnitedKingdom will help me in the future to build a better world. Asustainable world, socially and environmentally harmonic.

SPACE AND SHAPE 2

SPACE AND SHAPE 2 was about the process of creating a shape from nothing.

I used a non-Newtonian fluid vibrating at a low frequency sound box and tookpictures. Then I made the model in clay and sketched the shape.

I started the designprocess inspired bythe random shapes.

When the shape was good enought, theclass was told to design that on a 3Dmodeler: the Rhinoceros 4.0.Particularly, I used some plug-ins to helpthe process, the "T-spline", "Grasshopper"and "Paneling Tools".

It was given a real place to put the project, so it changed a little while it wasbeen made as an architectural object.

Hélio Oiticica, Grande Núcleo, 1960, Photo: César Oiticica Filho.

The final work in SPACEAND SHAPE 1 was to re-read the installation"Grande Núcleo" byHélio Oiticica, abrazilian artist.

Each team designedtheir proposal, followingsome rules (size andcolors allowed). Thentwo of them werechosen to be built.Mine was one of them.

The design inspirationwas a vortex. I used thisreference to guide me.

The model wassupposed to look like avortex in plan andtridimensional, like ahurricane.

The place to build itwas set by theprofessors and half ofthe class helped tobuild each of the twomodel.

COMPUTER AIDED ARCHITECTURALDESIGN

COMPUTER AIDED ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN was about learning to design andrepresent architecture using BIM (building information modeling) softwares. The work is to take a project that exists and model it in BIM software (we used theArchiCAD).Then we must represent it in several ways using the software. That includes plans, sections, 3D drawings, rendering, details and even material lists.

This project is theStenio Lima Houseand its architect isthe brazilianNeudson Braga. It's a typicalmodernist housingin Ceará-BR.

ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT 3 treats on the social housing problems. In the semesterwe design two simple projects to get the practices and one definitive masterproject. This is one of the basics.

In countries with high socialinequality it is very common theproliferation of informalhousing, known as slums. Tosolve this issue, social programsaim at the construction ofsocial housing to relocate thesefamilies.

The two types of housingunits meet the designstandards of the Brazilianprograms.

The typical floor and how the HousingUnits are distributed.

This project was inspired in the work ofAlejandro Aravena.
