1 "Now this is the commandment—thestatutes and the rules—that the LORDyour God commanded me to teach you,that you may do them in the land towhich you are going over, to possess it,

2 that you may fear the LORD your God,you and your son and your son's son, bykeeping all his statutes and hiscommandments, which I command you,all the days of your life, and that yourdays may be long.

10 And all that generation also weregathered to their fathers. And therearose another generation after themwho did not know the LORD or the workthat he had done for Israel.

11 And the people of Israel did what wasevil in the sight of the LORD and servedthe Baals.

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, theLORD is one.5 Love the LORD your God with all yourheart and with all your soul and withall your strength.

6 And these words that I command youtoday shall be on your heart.7 You shall teach them diligently toyour children, and shall talk of themwhen you sit in your house, and whenyou walk by the way, and when you liedown, and when you rise.

8 You shall bind them as a sign on yourhand, and they shall be as frontletsbetween your eyes.9 You shall write them on the doorpostsof your house and on your gates.

6 Train up a child in the way he shouldgo; even when he is old he will notdepart from it.

9 Honor the LORD with your wealth andwith the first fruits of all yourproduce;10 then your barns will be filled withplenty, and your vats will be burstingwith wine.

20 Whoever walks with the wise becomeswise, but the companion of fools willsuffer harm.

24 Put away from you crooked speech,and put devious talk far from you.

6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider herways, and be wise.7 Without having any chief, officer, orruler,8 she prepares her bread in summer andgathers her food in harvest.

7 for as he thinks in his heart, so is he;Eat and drink, he says to you, but hisheart is not with you.

25 The soul who gives freely shall bemade fat; and he who waters shall alsobe watered himself.

7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning ofknowledge; fools despise wisdom andinstruction.
