Question 6 what have you learnt about technology from the process of constructing this product?

Photoshop

I constructed the front cover and contents on photoshop. Before this I had previously used photoshop twice before so I was familiar with a few of the tools. However before I started constructing my final product I played around with a few of the tools so I could explore what photoshop had to offer. I found my favourite tool to be the magic wand and my least favourite thing about photoshop was having to constantly make sure I was on the right layer so constantly clicking on and off layers got annoying.

The magic wand tool The magic want tool like I said was my favourite when constructing my magazine because it was quick and easy to get rid of excess unwanted space around my images and text. An example of where I used this tool was for my editors picture there was a lot of background behind the image and I just want an outline of the person. So the magic tool allowed me to neatly get rid of all the background without getting rid of bits of the image I needed.

Colour overlay Another tool I used frequently on photoshop was the colour overlay tool. I used this to change the colour of my font to fit my colour scheme I chose. I found that when I hovered over a colour on the page when on cover overlay a colour swatch appeared allowing me to choose that exact colour so they dont mis-match.

Constructing the album coverUsing different tools on photoshop I was able to make a realistic music album cover. I cropped an image I had taken on a panosonic camera and then put a sharpen effect on it. I then made a rectangle shape across the image and changed the colour overlay to red. I then put text in the image and added the radio one logo. Photoshop made it easy to create this album cover.

Da fontPhotoshopI used the websitehttp://www.dafont.com/ to get my font for my masthead, main coverline and titles. After transferring the font onto Photoshop once I found it quick and easy to do for the rest of my font. First I had to choose my font then I had to print screen it and paste it onto a page on photshop then I had to crop the majority of the rest of the screen that I did not want. Finally I had to get the magic want tool and ensure all of the background was removed so I was just left with my font. Finally I have to move the layer onto the page I wanted.

Panosonic Camera I have learnt how to take a good photo using a panosonic camera. I was not very familiar with this model of camera as I am so used to using my iphone to take pictures. I saw a huge difference in the focus and quality of my images. It was quick and easy to transfer my images from the camera to my desktop by just one lead.

InDesign The other software I used to construst my magazine was indesign. I created my whole double page spread and put my magazine together using this software. Before my teacher introduced me to indesign I had never heard of it but after the initial introductory tutorial I was near enough able to use most of the tools. By the end of my construction I was able to create columns and dropcaps, add images and blur an image into text.

Questionnaire- ExcelExcel was a useful software to use when I wanted to put my results from the questionnaire into a graph so I could then analyse them. Excel gave me no problems and I was able to merge cells and create graphs easily. I had a lot of results to record so this was a huge benefit to getting the graphs created quickly.

Research and Planning SoftwareThroughout my research and planning I used many different presentation sites including Powtoon,Prezi,Wideo,Powerpoint and emaze. Although these are refreshing ways to present work and allowed me to get created they did cause a lot of problems. Technology is not very reliable due to technical problems such as freezing etc and along the way wideo and prezi showed this. While in the middle of creating presentations the software would freeze and not save my work. Also prezi was not allowing me at one point to add any text so this got frustrating however after spending a lot of time on them I managed to create many impressive technical presentations.
