Dear Parishioners, Please remember in your prayers Mary Jane Amad who lost her mother, Helen Clark, this past week. Helen leaves behind three children William Clark Sr., Susan Clark and Mary Jane. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in peace. This past Saturday we welcomed to our 5pm Mass parishioners, Dan and Kay Marshall, as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They were married on January 29, 1966. It is quite apropos that we call to mind this anniversary as we draw near to World Marriage Day on February 14th, Valentines Day. Since 1981 this day was set to be celebrated on the 2nd Sunday of February. Our second reading last week from Paul to the Corinthians reminded us of the love that must reign true in married life: “Love is patient, love is kind…. it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails” (1 Cor. 13-8a). There was much activity last week around the parish. On Friday evening, mothers and sons gathered for a “Minute to Win It” game night. Lots of fun was had by all who attended. Many thanks to our Home and School Association for organizing this fun event. That same evening each of our 8th grade basketball teams played their final home game in our gym. The second game was a “Queen against Queen” game. I have to admit it was a pretty tough and energy filled game. On Saturday morning, we welcomed the 2nd graders of our parish to celebrate their 1st reconciliation. While not being able to comment on any sins confessed, I can tell you that they were so excited to feel God’s love in the Sacrament of Confession. The halls of our school were full of people last Sunday as we opened our doors to welcome members of our parish community and those of the wider community for the kick-off of Catholic Schools Week. We welcomed many new faces as people entered our building to see the wonderful things that are happening at Queen of All Saints. I would like to offer a few words of thanks to our teachers who gave of their time to be present, to our Home and School, and to the School Board who worked to organize tours and many other facets of the day. If you enter www.qasstl.org into your web browser you will see a brand new look to our parish and school website. Please take a look and checkout all the wonderful things that are happening at the parish.

As we continue to work on ways to better our communication, we premiere this week our own parish app. MyParish is an app that includes parish news, information, contacts as well as faith-building resources and features, such as daily Mass, Confession and prayer time reminders. Please read more about this new tool in this week’s bulletin.

What is 40Acts—Do Lent Generously

Lent marks a pivotal point in the history of the church, when Jesus prepared to give himself up as a sacrifice. Traditionally we mark Lent by giving something up, but what if it could be more than that? What if Lent were a preparation for a life-time of big-heartedness? During the 40 days of Lent, 40 Acts participants are invited to take part in 40 simple acts of gener-osity which will challenge them to ‘do Lent gen-erously’ in 2016. The acts are wide-ranging but are all designed to explore what it means to be generous in a practical way.

MAGAZINE DRIVE

The annual QAS Home and School Magazine Subscription Drive is in full swing (2/4 – 2/24/2016)! Over 700 magazine titles are available, such as People, Sports Illustrated, Real Simple, Southern Living, National Geographic for Kids, and Reader’s Digest — great value and prices for everyone. Some magazines are available in both print and digital! Ordering through QAS is a win-win for every-one! Those ordering through QAS will pay much less than newsstand prices and often less than sub-scriptions from other sources. The benefit of buying or renewing through QAS is that 40% of the sub-scription price benefits QAS school rather than be-ing additional profit for the publisher. Now is the time to RENEW your favorite subscription, ORDER a new title or GIVE a gift. Give the gift of reading and help support our school! Every order counts! You can order anytime of the year online, at www.GASCHOOLSTORE.com, school #1050665, and QAS will still get credit for that sale! Save 4-6 weeks delivery by ordering online! If you would rather place your order now and be billed later, you can contact any QAS student or call Joan Pozzo @ 314-919-7395 or by email @ [email protected]. Catalogues will be available in the school and rectory office.

Thank you in advance for your help!

The 21st trip of our Disaster Recovery team will be April 10-15 to Joplin. We made the team available to three different local agencies regarding flood recovery efforts, but so far no takers. Carpool will depart Oakville 10:30 Sunday, April 10, and return late afternoon April 15. Accommodations can be made for individuals that cannot work the full week. Tentative tasks involve new construction and rehab work with Catholic Charities and repairs on several group homes of handicap residents. Team housing will again be at The Drury Suites. LifeLine Coalition Collection

The LifeLine Coalition is a group of social service agencies and prolife caregivers (Our Lady’s Inn, Birthright, and Good Shepherd Children and Family Services) that provide women with assistance for medical expenses, housing, food and clothing, and they offer educational and spiritual guidance, counseling, and adoption services. The Respect Life Apostolate of the St Louis Archdiocese raises the funding which is then distributed to the mem-ber agencies. These agencies support more than 10,000 women each year. Lifeline Coalition also contributes 1% of its annual budget to the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Fund. Next weekend you will have the opportunity to support women who choose LIFE! Special envelopes will be in the pews next weekend, or cash donations will be accepted as well. Donations through Faith Direct also gladly accepted.

HELPERS OF GOD’S PRECIOUS INFANTS - FR. FONSECA CELEBRANT

Did you know that abortions are performed only 8 blocks away from our Cathedral Basilica? First reactions to this might be outrage or sadness. Rather, this close proximity of good and evil is a great opportunity for hope and change. Helpers of God’s Precious Infants can help to make this happen. On the third Saturday of every month, you are invited to 8:00 am Mass and prayer vigil at the Cathedral Basilica. On Saturday, February 20, the Mass will be celebrated by our own Fr. Fonseca! After Mass the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adora-tion. All who are able are invited to pray the rosary during a peaceful procession to the abortion facility at For-est Park and Boyle. Upon return to the Cathedral, all participate in Benediction. For more information, contact Jeannine, 565-6085.
