Pygmalion Retold by: Chase Gammage, Bryce Ballard, Colby Fielding, and Jace Rees Pygmalion was an excellent sculptor. His sculptures had life-like details. Each of his sculptures seemed to have its own personality. He didnt want to sell any of his sculptures, but he had to earn a living. He couldnt remake any of his sculptures because each was so unique. Travelers from all over the world came to buy Pygmalions masterpieces. He met a woman that he instantly fell in love with, but he found out she was just visiting for a day. He was heartbroken. The next day he spent all day sculpting the girl with which he had fallen in love. He put the finest clothing and jewelry on her. He was so happy with his sculpture. That night he dreamed of his statue, but she was plain and still. He dreamed that she came to life suddenly. He woke up with a brilliant idea. The feast of Aphrodite was coming up and Pygmalion wanted to go. He would go and pray that his statue would come to life. Next he went to Aphrodites feast and prayed to Aphrodite. He prayed that his true love would come to life. After the festival, Pygmalion walked into his house and saw that she was still a sculpture and not moving. He was about to sell her, but then changed his mind and thought better of it. The next morning a girl woke him up. It was the sculpture of the beautiful girl who had come to life and woke him up. Immediately, he named her Galatea. He was so surprised and happy that he didnt know what to do. He decided to marry her. They had a boy named Paphos and a daughter named Methharme. The couple lived happily ever after and his sculpting career went world wide.
