A Little Scuba Dream
Somewhere along the way, out of our love for travel and beauty
in this world, we chanced upon a favorite family jaunt.
Scuba diving in Indonesia. Though we've seen many corners of
this beautiful country, seeing her underwater realm stirs
a special feeling of peaceful adoration.
For years, Josephine crafted the family scuba diving vacations.
She would add land trips to see the local people, flora & fauna.
She'd also make breads, juices, and cook her special dishes
as a guest herself. She made our scuba trips in Indonesia
truly memorable, relaxing, and pleasant.
It seemed only natural that Jo & Ken would one day operate
their own scuba liveaboard.
ABOUT US
Josephine Wiedenhoeft
Jo is one of the Putiraja's on-board dive instructors. Her love for cooking and her hospitable disposition always shines through. She will make sure you're well fed, comfortable, and enjoy your stay with Putiraja.Underwater, you will always find her with her camera. If you're an underwater photographer on board, be sure to show her your Raja Ampat pictures.
Ken Wiedenhoeft
Ken is one of Putiraja's on-board dive instructors. With a huge curiosity for the world, Ken has lived in many countries. In 1976, an engineering job took him off the coast of Sorong, where he worked for almost 30 years. He spent some of his spare time diving around Sorong with his colleagues, never dreaming that he would end up so close running his own liveaboard.A true engineer who keeps Putiraja's engine runs smoothly.
A Classic Pinisi Liveaboard With Modern Features
Originally a five-year-old rugged cargo ship,
Putiraja is now our handsome dive liveaboard &
leisure cruise vessel.
Stretching 34m (110ft) long,
she was built as a classic Indonesian wooden schooner (Pinisi).
With a hull made of solid ironwood and interior walls erected
from a mixture of exotic woods, she stands robust with everlasting
elegance.
The spacious cabins are outfitted with private bathrooms
and individually controlled air conditioning. With water supply
from the sea processed by Reverse Osmosis units,
we have a steady supply of pure fresh water. Solar heaters
will provide warm bathing comforts, while the UV Sterilizer
ensures that drinking water is clean and healthy
for your consumption.
A CLASSIC PINISI
Diving Raja Ampat, West Papua, Indonesia
Within the world's Coral Triangle are the islands of Raja Ampat
(translates to Four Kings). Located northwest of Indonesia's West Papua
(formerly Irian Jaya) on the Bird's Head Seascape, these 1500 scattered islands
and quays are acclaimed to be the center of marine biodiversity*.
Over 1500 species of fish, 600* species of reef building hard corals and 700 mollusks
have been identified in the area. The scientists are still busy counting the marine
biodiversity of this protected area. With so much thriving underwater life
and pristine environment, it is no wonder that Raja Ampat is a sought after
dive trip by scuba enthusiasts.
