ProteMac KeyBag is designed for stealth monitoring and recording of every keystroke made during every user activity performed on your Mac. It allows you to find out what other users do on your computer in your absence, including application used, chat conversations, web usage, etc. This invisible spy surveillance tool records every keystroke to a database file with a user-friendly keystroke log viewer. By continuously using ProteMac KeyBag you will save time by preventing accidental data damage and loss. KeyBag automatically records all typed email conversations, chat records, websites visited and document lists. It enables you to easily restore lost text which was typed yesterday, the day before yesterday, or weeks ago.

Minimum System Requirements

To run KeyBag effectively, you should meet or exceed the following minimum system requirements:

Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard or better

Intel-based Mac

500 MB hard drive space

KeyBag installation

To install KeyBag:

1. Open ProteMac home page (www.protemac.com) and download KeyBag. 2. After the download is complete, double-click the protemac-keybag.dmg file, then double-click “Install” in the KeyBag dialog. 3. Follow the instructions in the Install KeyBag window.

Overview of the KeyBag Interface

Before attempting to use KeyBag, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with its interface, which includes the ProteMac KeyBag window and Preferences window.

The main ProteMac KeyBag window As soon as you have launched KeyBag after its installation, the Main window opens and displays the Keystrokes and Applications tabs. The main window displays all necessary buttons to enable keystroke monitoring. Several mouse-clicks allow you to track all activities performed form the keyboard.

Keystrokes tab – displays captured keystroke information for all applications (or for the selected application) utilized within the specified time period. Applications tab – displays an esy-to-read chart illustrating application usage and stroke length.

User name drop-down list – displays the name of the user who utilized each application. Time range - click to specify the time period for which you want KeyBag to record keystroke information. Export - click to export the captured keystrokes from the table.

Help – click to look through the ProteMac KeyBag user guide.

Refresh - click to refresh the window information.

Keystrokes tab When you launch KeyBag, the Main window opens and displays the Keystrokes tab, which provides detailed keystroke information about all applications used within the specified time period. Note: By default, KeyBag displays keystroke data for all applications used. To view keystroke information for a single application, select it from the Application drop-down list.

Application drop-down list – click to select the application for which you want to view keystroke information. This list includes all the applications that have been used within the specified time period.

Activity details – displays/hides statistical information about the use of the selected application, such as the maximum stroke length, average stroke length, maximum typing speed, etc.

The table in the main KeyBag window displays all monitored and recoded keystrokes with an indication of the application and time.

Application – displays the name of each application utilized. Time – displays date and time information pertaining to each keystroke session. Window – displays the title of each window utilized during each keystroke session.

Text – displays a portion of the text typed during each keystroke session. Note: To view all of the text typed during a keystroke session, select the desired session in the Keystrokes tab. Keystroke Typed Details box - displays all the text typed during that session.

Applications tab The Applications tab provides a graphical representation of the total number of keystrokes that have occurred for each application used in the specified time period. It displays when you click the Applications tab on the Main window.

The Applications chart breaks down appliation usage and stroke length in an easy to read chart. It allows you to preview which program are used more often or determine the billable hours.

Using KeyBag

This chapter discusses in detail how to utilize KeyBag’s various features. This chapter contains the following sections:

As soon as KeyBag has begun monitoring activity on your Mac, you can choose to view the Keystrokes table at any time. The Keystrokes tab allows you to view keystroke data for all applications or for a single application. 1. Go to the Applications folder and double-click KeyBag icon. The Main window opens and displays by default the keystroke information for all applications utilized thus far.

2. To view keystroke data for a single application, select the desired application from the Application drop-down list. The Keystrokes table is refreshed and only the keystroke data for the selected application is displayed. Note: To redisplay keystroke data for all applications utilized, simply select “All Applications” from the Application drop-down list.

Viewing Application Statistics

Once KeyBag has begun monitoring activity on your Mac, you can choose to view a variety of application statistics at any time, such as the maximum stroke length, maximum typing speed, etc. KeyBag allows you to view statistics for all applications or for a single application.

1. To view statistics for all applications, when viewing the KeyStrokes table,

select “All Applications” from the Application drop-down list in the main window, then click the Activity details button.

2. To view statistics for a single application, click the Activity Details button

to close the tab, select the desired application from the Application drop-down list, then click the Activity Details button again. The Activity Details tab displays again, this time showing data for only the selected application.

Viewing the Applications Chart

The Applications chart provides a graphical representation of the total number of keystrokes that have occurred for each application used during the selected time period. To view the Applications chart, click on the Applications tab in the Main window. Note: To return to the Keystrokes table, click the Keystrokes tab.

Specifying the Time Period to Monitor

After KeyBag has been installed all keystrokes entered from the keyboard will be monitored by default during four hours. You may specify the time period during which you want all keystroke activity on your Mac to be monitored.

To specify a time period to monitor:

1. Launch KeyBag. The Main window opens and displays the Keystrokes tab.

Note: The first time you launch KeyBag, the Keystrokes table will be empty if you haven’t entered anything from the keyboard. Once KeyBag has monitored keystroke activity, keystroke data for the last time period monitored is displayed each time KeyBag is launched.

3. Click the Time range button from the menubar. The Start Time/End Time dialog displays.

3. Specify the desired start date/time and end date/time via the calendars

and clocks displayed on the dialog, then click the OK button. When the specified start date/time arrives, KeyBag will begin to monitor all the keystroke activity that occurs for all applications on your Mac, and it will continue to do so until the specified end date/time arrives.

Using the Preferences Window The ProteMac KeyBag Preferences window contains the settings that allow you to enable keystroke capturing, specify banned words and indicate your email address to receive screenshots on warnings.

General tab– click to enable Keystroke Capturing, to specify the time period for storing KeyBag's database or clear all data.

Warnings tab – click to enlist banned words to get notification once they were typed during Keystroke session.

E-Mail Alerts tab – click to receive screenshots on warnings via E-mail.

Keystroke warning notifications With KeyBag you can trace the usage of restricted words typed during the work at computer.

1. To specify restricted words and get warning notification via E-mail address, select Preferences from KeyBag menu and click the Warnings tab.

2. In the blank field below enter the restricted words you would like to trigger and get notification about. Click the + button to add this word to the whole list or - button to delete it. Choose OK to confirm your choice.

3. Select the Email Alerts tab to indicate E-mail address to get Warning Notification. Fill in all the blank fields and click OK button when finished.

Exporting the Keystrokes Table Data

With KeyBag, you can easily export the data displayed in the Keystrokes table. KeyBag lets you select the table fields to export, as well as specify one of three output formats: .csv, .html or .txt.

To export the Keystrokes table data:

1. First, specify whether you want to export the Keystrokes table data for all applications or only one application. To export the data for all applications, select the “All Applications” option from the Application drop-down list. To export the data for only one application, select the desired application from the Application drop-down list.

2. Click the Export button. The Select Fields screen of the export wizard displays. 4. Clear the checkbox of any field you don’t want to export.

Note: All fields with selected checkboxes will be exported.

4. Click the Next button to display the Export Format selection screen.

5. Select the desired output format, then click the Finish button and in the window appeared specifythefilenametosavetheinformationinandclickSavetocompletethisoperation.InthenextwindowclickYesifyouwanttoopenoutputfile.
