IT’S OFFICIAL. PROSTAR® IS FIRST IN FUEL ECONOMY. AGAIN.

REAL-WORLD TESTING.All the wind tunnel testing in the world doesn’t mean anything if we

can’t turn that into fuel economy improvements for our customers.

That’s why International’s design process includes SAE Type III

and TMC Type IV testing. These tests are conducted on test tracks

as well as public highways to evaluate fuel effi ciency in realworld

environments. This allows us not only to correlate our aerodynamic

performance to fuel economy but also provides a more complete

indication of fuel economy by taking powertrain variations into

consideration as well.

TMC TYPE IV TESTS AREREAL-WORLD TESTS.Type IV testing is performed on public highways over hundreds of miles

that better represent realworld conditions experienced by customers.

In International’s most recent tests, Transportation Research Center

Inc. was contracted to evaluate both

ProStar and Cascadia over the three

valid runs required. Each was driven

three times over a 444-mile course of

public interstate highways. After each

run, fuel economy was calculated for

both vehicles.

A BIG ADVANTAGE FOR PROSTAR.The numbers don’t lie. ProStar averaged 7% better fuel economy than

Cascadia. These claims confi rm earlier SAE Type III testing.

Our fuel economy advantage represents a fuel savings of over $5,800

per truck annually to the bottom line.* That puts ProStar miles ahead

of every other Class 8 truck on the road today.

International is committed to ongoing analysis and testing to

continuously look for aerodynamic and fuel economy improvements

that add to our customers’ bottom line.

IT’S TIME TO OWN A PROSTAR.Of course, you don’t have to take our word for it. Just add a ProStar

to your fl eet and see for yourself. Spec one today with the MAXXimum

MPG fuel economy package and you’ll get $1,000 off your next truck

order.** It’s just more proof that when it comes to performance and

profi tability, International really does put its customers miles ahead.

FUEL EFFICIENCY THAT SPANSBEYOND OUR TRUCKS.International has additional product offerings that enhance fuel

economy such as the new MAXXPower Auxiliary Power Unit (coming

soon). Fully integrated and factory installed, it can

save you over $7,000 per truck per year. The all

new MAXXForce 11 and 13 liter big bore engines are

now available in the ProStar offering outstanding

fuel economy, lighter weight for increased payload

and low noise vibration and harshness for a

comfortable ride.

*$5,800 savings based on 120,000 miles driven/year, 6 mpg and $4.15 per gallon.

** The ProStar was run competitively in aerodynamic tests against the competition on sale in North America with ProStar outperforming the fi eld and the nearest competitor being the Cascadia. The ProStar was tested more fuel effi cient than the Cascadia providing the basis in combination with the head-to-head aerodynamic testing against all the competition to make the claim that ProStar is the most fuel effi cient Class 8 truck on the road. CAN YOU AFFORD TO RUN ANY OTHER TRUCK?

IT’S CONFIRMED, INTERNATIONAL PROSTAR IS THE MOST FUEL-EFFICIENT CLASS 8 TRUCK ON THE ROAD.With fuel prices at record highs, now more than ever

you need a truck that makes the most of every drop of

diesel. In recent wind tunnel tests, the International

ProStar was proven to be

more aerodynamic than

our competitors’ most

aerodynamic trucks. And

now, in just-completed

TMC Type IV tests, ProStar was, on average, 7% more

fuel-effi cient than the leading competitive truck,

Freightliner Cascadia.

TESTING, TESTINGAND MORE TESTING.In our quest for outstanding fuel economy, ProStar

engineers use four phases of design to evaluate and

refi ne our aerodynamics. Advanced computer modeling

and computational fl uid dynamics allow basic shapes

to be assessed. From there, eighth-scale models are

taken into the wind tunnel where trucks are sculpted

and enhanced.

Fullscale windtunnel testing then validates the fi nal

aerodynamic design. But International knows that

our testing must equate to real-world fuel economy,

so we take our trucks out on the road to validate our

aerodynamics. To ensure scientifi cally valid results,

International adheres to stringent SAE Type III and TMC

Type IV fuel economy testing to evaluate our designs.

International® Truck has long been committed to providing our customers with the most fuel-effi cient

trucks on the road. From the cabover designs of the 1970s and 1980s through today’s International®

ProStar® and International® LoneStar,® International continues to deliver on this commitment.

OVER-THE-ROAD TESTING

Recent wind tunnel tests demonstrated ProStar was at least 7.3% more

aerodynamic than the closest competitive truck. And that will make a

big difference on the road. Aerodynamic drag represents up to 50% of

the road load losses for a vehicle traveling 65 mph on level ground.

That means ProStar’s 7.3% aerodynamic advantage will equate to

approximately 3.7% improvement in fuel economy.

Full scale wind tunnel testing was conducted at the National Research

Council in Canada where SAE recommendations are followed. Testing

at this facility allows for use of a trailer and the ability to rotate the

truck, thereby evaluating the effects of crosswinds. Reduced cross-

wind drag is where the advantage of ProStar is even more clear.
