THE PROPOSED MODEL OF IMPLEMENTATION OF
K to 12
by
ST. PAUL UNIVERSITY MANILA
1. KRA - FACULTYSCENARIO - Full implementation of
Grades 11 and 12 in 2016 and 2017
IMPLICATION: No First and Second Year College students, hence, General Education Faculty will have no teaching load.
1. KRA - FACULTYPROPOSED ACTIONS – OFFER Grades 11 and
121) Employ General Education Faculty to teach in Grades 11 and 12, if
qualified, i.e., they are LET passers.
2) Retool General Education Faculty for them to be able to teach in Grades 11 and 12, for example, provide training on the New Curriculum for Grades 11 and 12.
3) Ask CHED to issue a Memo on Qualification of college teachers teaching in Grades 11 and 12.
4) Give a grace period for Gen. Education Faculty to qualify themselves to teach in Grades 11 and 12.
5) Hire Basic Education Faculty.
1. KRA - FACULTYOTHER IMPLICATIONS AND ISSUESISSUE OF SALARY of Gen. Educ. Faculty who will
teach in Grades 11 and 12: 1) Will their salary be based on salary of Basic
Education teachers? 2) Will they agree to receive such salary? If they
will not agree? Retrench? Offer early retirement? Or, will school administration give them the
same salary based on their college rank? 3) What will happen to General Education
Faculty who are not LET passers and will not qualify to teach in Grades 11 and 12?
2. KRA - ENROLLMENT SCENARIO: If there is a decline in enrollment,
i.e., if there is not enough students in Grades 11 and 12?
PROPOSED ACTIONS: 1) Offer Honors Promotion Program
Extend the stay of honor and other students by offering them the following:
Fast-track Master’s Program = This may be taken even if the student has no work experience; = OR, as students, we will allow them to explore the work environment in an extended OJT that is incorporated within the Graduate degree program.
2. KRA - ENROLLMENT Double Tracking Program= Provide shorter travel and OJT options such as distance, online education options for students who cannot go on full-time study.
2)Offer second major in related areas
2)Review the curriculum of the different degree programs ( 1 year RGE + 3 years major courses)
2. KRA - ENROLLMENT 4) Offer Onsite, Distance, or Online
Twinning Program
Our HRM and Information Technology offerings can be twinned with the courses offered by public universities.
2. KRA - ENROLLMENT 4) Offer ASEAN Integration Bride (Exchange) Program Facilitate SPU Manila’s entry to ASEAN countries and those of ASEAN countries to SPU Manila. Offer greater global competence to ASEAN students who can benefit from an expanded General Education Program which
can occupy General Education Faculty during the enrollment gap years. Consider developing Asian countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, etc. whose students are not selective about accommodations and are more open to
cultural exchange due to the improving tourism programs in their own countries.
3. KRA - CLASSROOMS SCENARIO: Underutilized Classrooms
In 2016, if there will be no Grade 11, we will have 12 unoccupied classrooms. We need only 30 classrooms for Second, Third and Fourth Year students.
In 2017, there will be 26 unoccupied rooms if Grades 11 and 12 are not offered. Only 16 rooms will be needed for 3rd and 4th year levels.
3. KRA - CLASSROOMS PROPOSED ACTION: Create a Learning
Space Leasing Program Offer SPU Manila’s classrooms to nearby high
schools such as the Malate Catholic School, Paco Catholic School, St. Anthony’s Parish School in Singalong, St. Mary’s Catholic School in Pasay and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sta. Ana.
Enable training centers of different types in the Malate area to hold their extension training space in SPU Manila campus. Examples: Digital design printing services and schools based in malls; personality development and image building groups, etc.; schools of design.
4. KRA - MARKETING – AN IMPERATIVE
PROPOSED ACTION: Come up with a Marketing Program
1)Marketing Incentives Program1) Reward administrators who can assure the delivery of
target enrollees; Continue to reward through tuition fee discount
currently enrolled students who bring in new students Set exact numerical targets per program.
2) Marketing Research Program (to be started in 2014) Study the needs of target markets to help develop
products that will meet their needs; Design communication approaches that can reach out
to them more effectively.
4. KRA - MARKETING – AN IMPERATIVE
PROPOSED ACTION: Come up with a Marketing Program
3) Market Development Program Contact and communicate to feeder schools and
new target markets the existing expanded and new programs.
4) Product Development Program Improve, expand and innovate existing courses
that will help retain existing students and satisfy new groups of students and training concessionaires.
