CHATTER More and more we hear people

commenting on the happy choice of the Paramount Theater as the ideal setting for the world-renowned artists on the Paramount Concert Series and for the presentation of the grand operas by the San Carlo Grand Opera Company.

Following the auspicious opening concert on the Paramount Course, we heard nothing but praise for all the things that combine to make a glorious evening's entertainment at the Paramount Concert Series. We are sure that tonight this fact w i l l be even more apparent.

We might list a few of the contributing factors that go to make up such a perfect combination. The sheer beauty of the theater alone is one of the biggest points to be considered; then we must realize how wonderful the ac-coustics and how comfortable the seats are; the palatial lobby and mezzaines afford an excellent background for the display of the feminine loveliness that was so evident at the last concert; the pleasant manner in which the theater attaches served the patrons — al l these and more too must be considered when one begins to appreciate the offerings of the world's greatest artists at Portland's de luxe Picture Palace.

A n event of interest is to be the introduction of a different type of drama at the Auditor ium on Monday evening, February 8th. Elias Lazaroff has written and produced a Russian musical drama entitled "The Voice of the Centuries," which w i l l be presented at that time.

mentioned in the early chapter of Genesis and has been the inspiration of romance throughout the ages.

Its sparkling brilliance and delicious fragrance has graced the banquet tables and halls of the greatest names in history. Poets have rhapsodized it; great artists have sung its praises, and music and romance are interwoven with—wim , W I N E , W I N E !

CHATTER We hope that you notice the

excellent repertoire of ballets that are to be presented by the Ballet Busse de Monte Carlo at the Paramount on Friday, February 5th. And, by the way, we advise you to hurry in getting your ticket, as these are going fast. Bemember last year. Hundreds and hundreds were turned away—denied the opportunity of seeing this internationally famous troupe that sti l l remains the greatest exponent of the ballet in the entire world.

So many requests came i n for an additional performance of ballets this year, that Mr. Mc-Curdy has arranged for a mat i nee performance entirely different from the evening performance.

Look at this list of ballets. We feel you are going to be as thri l led as we were. Doesn't the program sound interesting?

Matinee: Lake of Swans. Fantastic Toy Shop. Aurora's Wedding.

Evening: Pavilion. Three Cornered Hat. L'Apres Midi D'un Faune. Cimarosiana.

St. Patrick's Day should be a great day at the Paramount Theater, for that is the opening day of the San Carlo Grand Opera Company i n one of the most del ightful repertoires of grand opera ever scheduled i n one week i n Portland. Paramount Concert Series season patrons should place their orders now for tickets for the opera engagement, as this privilege is being given unt i l February 10, at which time mai l orders w i l l be f i l led i n the order that they are received at the Paramount.
