1. To keep the device working the wafers are needed without which welding is not possible.2. Wafers are automatically replaced after each use and contamination is fully avoidable

because each wafer is discarded after a single use.3. In fact, Terumo's patented wafers heat up to 3000C(5720F) - i.e. the temperature which is

high enough to maintain sterility during cutting & welding without allowing particulatesor chemical residues to form in the tubes.
