School Chaplain: Our school chaplain Simon Fink currently works at the school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Simon’s role is to be an additional support to students, staff, parents and the broader community connected to the school. Simon has been spending some time in each classroom getting to know the students and in particular has been spending time with the senior students. This week you should have received some request slips and envelopes that were sent home with your child. If at any time you or your child would like to have a chat with out chaplain, please just return one of these slips or call for an appointment. Simon will also be working with a group of grade 6 students with the Compass Student Leadership Program – along with Mrs O’Reilly- and will be involved in a number of student engagement projects throughout the year, the first project beginning in 3/4R. Swimming: Next term our swimming program for all students in Preps to Grade 4 begins. If your child doesn’t yet have bathers for swimming, now would be a good time to buy some. With the end of summer it’s likely to be a good time to get bathers on special. Our local op shops may also have some bathers available. Your child will also need a towel and a bag to place their clothes in. It would be a great help if the bag, bathers and school clothes are all labelled with your child’s name. The school swimming program will run each Friday during term 2 at no cost to the families. This program is being paid for by the school. Multicultural Day: A reminder that we have a very exciting day, with a range of cultural activities on Monday, as a celebration for harmony day.A huge thank you to the families who are helping us out by running activities for the students. Parent Teacher Interviews: Thank you to those who have returned their slips with a preference for interview times. As you can imaging it can be quite tricky to give everyone their time preference. If you did not return your slip, a time has been allocated. Please call the office if this time doesn’t suit you. It’s very important that we meet with all parents/guardians to discuss your child’s learning needs.

Nathan – You get faster at doing things with your body.

Luke – Bluearth is exciting. It is about team work. You get fit and active.

Shayelee – Bluearth is fun. You exercise and get fit.

Angela – You learn new games and have fun.

Jasmine – you get fit and it is fun.

Emma – It is fun and it makes you fit. It is good exercise.

Tremayne – Bluearth is never boring. It is challenging. It keeps us fit. It has a lot of

team work.

Brian – Bluearth helps you to get fitter.

Zak – In bluearth you do activities. It is cool. You do lots of activities with Scott.

Dion – Bluearth is sport and I like sport. It is fun and it teaches us to use our bodies

better. The instructors are nice and helpful.

Achol – Bluearth is really fun. Everyone is being resilient and trying their best in sport.

Dylan – I like to play games. I like the new teacher. Sometimes I learn more games and

challenging games. I try to be a good sport. I help some people in games.

Chloe – I like the way that we learn different games. I like how we do core movement

because it makes us healthy.

Robbie – Bluearth is good exercise. It helps us to have good health.

Nyadet – It is sporty. It is something that everyone can do. It is good for your health and

it is FUN!

Hailie – Bluearth is good for you. You can get fit.

Jai – You get really fit and healthy. You learn new things to practise at home to get

more fit.

Hosanna – Bluearth is fun and challenging.

Adam – I like bluearth because it helps make you calm and helps your health. Core

movement helps you get stronger and calmer.

Kayla – Bluearth is fun and there are lots of activities to do.

Teia – In bluearth you get active. It is fun.

Commences with an information & sign up session on Tuesday March 19th

in the South Street Library. Parents/Carers are requested to attend.

The first session of the club will run for 6 weeks to Thursday May

9th with sessions on Tuesday March 19th (Orientation), Thursday

March 21st, Tuesday March 26th, Tuesday April 16th, Thursday April

18th, Tuesday April 23rd, Tuesday April 30th, Thursday May 2nd,

Tuesday May 7th& Thursday May 9th.

Primary School Aged Children are invited to join the club-

bring your reader, any homework sheets, things that you want

to learn more about. This is a great opportunity to catch up

or get some extra help.

Adult tutors are trained and all have “Working with Children

Cards” – some are qualified teachers. We also have a large

group of Senior Students from Lowanna College who will

work with the children.

Beyond the Bell Club

Every Tuesday & Thursday Afternoon 3.30 to 4.30pm

at South Street Primary School.

On Monday the 25th March our school is going to celebrate and

participate in a multicultural diversity day.

It is going to be great day for students as they will be participating

and learning about how other cultures and their traditions have been

handed down from generation to generation.

The students will be doing a variety of activities such as cooking,

dance, art and other fun activities.

We are holding this day as our school has a diverse range of

students that come from many different cultures.

We hope the students will enjoy this day and gain lots of insight into

how we are different but the same.

Good afternoon all schools

What a wonderful day we all had on Saturday at our Moe School’s Superstar and free family

Fun day. It drizzled on several occasions but that didn’t stop our local kids (and parents)

enjoying all the free entertainment. The quality of our 18 entrants in our Idol competition was again of very high standards and speaking to the judges at the end of the day their job was indeed a very hard one.

The four finalists who will sing at the Moe Music Festival on 4th May from 1pm till 1.30 pm which

is held at Old Gippstown. Our four finalists in no particular order are:

Congratulations to these students and we look forward to hearing from them again in May. All students who competed received a show bag with goodies and vouchers and a medal for their participation in our event.

Parents are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance for students. Parents and guardians are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including any transport costs. These costs may be recoverable where an injury is caused by the negligence (carelessness) of the Department, a school council or their employees or volunteers.

Student accident insurance policies are available from some commercial insurers. These cover a range of medical expenses not covered by Medicare or private health insurance. They can be obtained by school councils on a whole-of-school basis, or by parents/guardians for individual students.
