Principal’s Message

As we enter the last phase of our school year, there are many exciting, up-coming events! It is important at this time, however, for students to continue to strive to meet their academic goals by the end of the year.

A reminder to Grade 3 and 6 parents that EQAO testing will take place at the end of the month, beginning on May 27th and ending on June 5th. We ask that parents avoid making any appointments for their children during this time so they can be pre-sent for each testing session. Please en-sure that your child is well-rested for each section of the test. Thank you so much for your help in this regard.

BPS Dress Code

While attending school, participating in school-sponsored func-tions, or when travelling to and from school-related functions, staff and students of Beachburg Public School are expected to follow these guidelines.

All staff and students attending schools in the County are to present a neat, clean and acceptable appearance according to the regulations.

For safety reasons, footwear must be worn at all times.

Appropriate gym attire, including running shoes, must be worn during physical education classes (e.g. no flip flops, sandals, Crocs, etc.).

Everyone should dress appropriately for their age and for the weather conditions.

Clothing that is unacceptable for our school climate may include:

short shorts or skirts

shirts exposing midriff (the bottom of a top must meet the top of a bottom)

spaghetti straps

halter tops

outerwear must cover underwear

clothing with inappropriate language

clothing that advertises or promotes alcohol, drugs, or violence

hats should not be worn in the school building

Generally, clothing must not distract from the learning environment of the school and must not offend any staff or student. Students who are not adhering to the dress code will be required to change into other clothing or will be directed to the principal.

We Are Silent

Reminder About Equipment on the Bus

Now that spring has arrived, we would like to remind students that any equipment they choose to

bring with them during transportation to/from school must be properly secured. If not, it

becomes a safety hazard for other students on the vehicle as well as the driver. Please see the

following excerpt from our policy regarding equipment on vehicles:

7A.1 Equipment related to regular school programs may be transported by the pupil on the vehicle

provided that the items can be held comfortably on the pupil’s lap and are encased or protected by

guards. The driver may also designate a safe location on the vehicle for such items. The driver shall

refuse to transport items deemed to be unsafe.

For example, a basketball should be safely enclosed in the student’s bag so that it doesn’t roll around on the floor, etc.

Thank you as always for your continued dedication to safe student transportation!

Regards,

Thomas Rodgers,

Transportation Supervisor ~ RCJTC
