Principal’s Message Dear families, Welcome to week 3 of the term. We had a great start to our learning last week and it was great to see our Cessnock Perfect students and families back from the break, ready to learn. There will be a package of notes going home today. These notes include Local Area permission, PDHPE (Child Protection) lesson permission, permission to photograph and student use of ICT/Technology permission. These notes provide important information for the school and it would be greatly appreciated if they could be returned to classroom teachers by the 17th of February. We have a busy week coming up at CPS. As well as our engaging daily lessons, we also have: Tuesday – School Leader Induction Assembly Friday – Swimming carnival for all student aged 8yr and above Please note that we also have our school photo day coming up on the 16th of February. We have a few hot days coming up once again this week. Please ensure that your child has a bucket hat and a drink bottle that can be filled during the day. As always on these hot days we will look at cooler alternatives for our breaks. As always, have a wonderful week! Sunsafe – Broad brim hats to be worn Our school is a Sun safe school and for students to be out in the sun they must wear a broad brim hat – NO CAPS. We are very lucky that we have a number of areas in shade and if your child is not wearing a broad brim hat then they will be directed to follow our Go For Safety expectation and stay in a shaded area during break times. School hats are available for purchase from our school office. Our school bucket hats are $10.00 and broad brimmed hats are priced at $12.00.

Disabled Access Parking A reminder to all parents and visitors that it is illegal to park in a disabled access parking space without a current permit displayed. Cessnock PS has one disabled access parking space, near the top of the ramp at the Rawson St entry. Please be considerate of families who need to use this space to drop off and collect their children.

Smoking at the gates Please be aware that anyone smoking must be at least 4 metres from the entry gates to our school grounds.

P&C News Welcome back for 2017. The current P&C team are preparing for the all important AGM on Tuesday 14th February. Show your love ❤ and meet up in the library at 10.00am for a chance to win the lucky door prize and to create your new committee. Being on the P&C is very rewarding and you can make a positive contribution to our school and the experiences of your children. Soon the new soccer goals will be in place and finishing touches to the primary playing field done. The biggest transformation is the soft green infants and primary fields, thanks to the tender care over the holidays by Keith our GA. Check out the Cessnock Public Facebook page to see more information and all the incredible work and fun the current team have achieved.
