Summer Term
Primary Phase
Dear Parents / Carers, Hot weather precautions: We've all been sweltering through what has apparently been the hottest June week for 40 years! Thank you for continuing to support the school in looking after your child/ren by following our 'hot weather precautions' (see Newsletter of May 26th). This ensures that all our children can enjoy the hot weather without their learning and progress being disrupted. Remember: Stay hydrated – Stay cool – Stay protected – Stay Fresh! Mobile phones: It has come to our attention that a small number of children are bringing mobile phones to school. Please be aware that school's policy for the Primary Phase is that mobile phones must not be brought into school. These are valuable items that can be lost or damaged in a school environment, can be disruptive to learning and can potentially be associated with poor behaviour. Ms Barber and Ms Keedy provide all the communication that children may require with parents / family! Any mobile phones seen by staff may be confiscated and kept securely in the school safe until a parent collects them. Staff changes: In July we will announce which members of staff are leaving us at the end of term and those joining us for September. In the meantime, I am pleased to welcome back Mrs Franciosa, who will be returning from her maternity leave on Monday June 26th. For the next academic year, Mrs Franciosa and I will be sharing the responsibility of running the Primary Phase - we will be known as the 'Co-Heads of Primary'. I look forward to continuing to work with you and your children in 2017-18, and thank you all for your valuable support this year. Perfect Purples: 61 children achieved 78 'perfect purples' last week - congratulations to all of you! Mr Miller Acting Head of Primary

Year 3
This term Zebra class have been learning about our amazing bodies. We have learnt about the different nutrients our bodies’ needs and how much of each nutrient we should be eating. Below are some healthy meals we designed. Which one would you eat and why?
We are looking forward to finding out more about how our body works and cooking more interesting healthy snacks, such as these simple flapjacks! See our recipe below if to make your own!
Basic Flapjack
Ingredients 2 mashed bananas – the riper the better as sweeter and easier to mash
150g porridge oats (about 2 handfuls) 150ml milk
Mix all the ingredients together.
Put in to cake tin lined with greaseproof paper, or silicone bun cases. You can also make them in to cookies by placing the mixture in cookie shaped blobs on the grease-
proof paper. Bake for about 40 minutes at 170 degrees C. Or until they are browning and you can
smell the lovely aroma

Miss Jordan’s Maths Challenge
This week Edmonton County Primary School attended the borough athletics competition. The children
showed excellent sportsmanship and were able to perform brilliantly, even in the scorching heat. The
children enjoyed participating in 50m runs, hurdles and relay races throughout the afternoon. We are all
really proud of what Edmonton County have achieved and their behaviour was outstanding, showing all the
schools on Enfield that Edmonton County is a great school.
