It is with great pride and excitement that we present you with the Pride Center’s accomplishments for 2014. Simply put, the Pride Center makes life better for LGBTQ people in the Capital Region, and we have just concluded our most successful year yet!

In 2014, with your support, we offered services to more people than ever before and expanded our reach making an unprecedented impact in the greater Capital Region. Our existing programs remained strong including our Center Youth program providing empowerment, strength and hope to our youth all the way up to our Vintage Pride program offering connection and support to our aging community members.

For some community members, the Center is the first place they entered without feeling fear or judgment—where they feel completely safe and comfortable. For others, it offers an opportunity to give back or make change through volunteerism or philanthropy. Because of our incredible community, we are able to connect thousands of LGBTQ people to our vital services and educate hundreds of educators and service providers throughout our ten county region.

We celebrated our identity, families and community with over 20,000 people in Washington Park at Capital Pride, and featured our community’s most distinguished leaders at our October Gala.

As we wind down our 44th year as the Capital Region’s LGBTQ center, we proudly look ahead to an even more successful future. This is made possible by our dedicated board of directors, an incredibly passionate and qualified staff and a supported and empowered LGBTQ community.

We look forward to continuing our long tradition of building pride, engaging community and empowering lives. Please enjoy reading about your community’s center!

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Pride Center of the Capital Region is to promote the wellbeing of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer identified people and those affected by discrimination based on gender identity and expression.

OUR VISION

The Pride Center envisions an LGBTQ community in which individuals feel safe, secure and affirmed where they live, work, worship and play.

The Pride Center will be an integrated part of the social fabric of the Capital Region, nurtured by those we have served.
