For automatic gates, barriers and public transport

    Pressure wave switches

Can be used wherever a reliable switching pulse is requiredThe highly sensitive response of the pressure wave system means that it protects people and vehicles from almost all directions. The robustness and durability of the pressure wave switch make it an impressive opening sensor as well.

Quick and reliableEven the low pressure of 3 to 4 mbar is enough to guarantee the electric contact will switch reliably. Pressure wave switch systems are well proven and maintenance free, as well as offering aparticularly good cost-performance ratio.

    Functional principles

A pressure wave generated by the sensor reaches the pressure wave switch. The membrane deflects and the electric contact switches.

The electric contact remains switched for as long as the input pressure is above the response pressure.

    D1 series pressure wave switch

    Pressure wave switches

Millions of units successfully in servicePressure wave switches from Bircher Reglomat are based on technology that has been tried and tested as the best for more than 40 years with millions of units in service. A wide range of application options makes this product so versatile. It is thanks to their straightforward functional principle that they operate extremely reliably and are insensitive to external influences and interference. A valve orifice equalises atmospheric or temperature fluctuations.

    D2 series pressure wave switch

    Pressure wave switches

Pressure wave switch with electrical outputD2 series pressure wave switches are used above all where low currents have to be switched or where an electronic self-holding effect is desired. They are provided with a fixed valve orifice as standard, in order to equalise atmospheric or temperature fluctuations. The normal version has a permanent valve orifice for equalising pressure, e.g. pressure fluctuations caused by temperature differences. The Birotil (self-sustaining) version, on the other hand, operates with a pneumatic self-holding effect.

All series D2 pressure wave switches are equipped with self-cleaning contacts, a double membrane system and are certified acc. to SEV, VDE and NEMKO.

    Types in the D2 series

Type selectionD2 pressure wave switches are available in 3 operating pressure ranges:Cl1: 0.3–1.0 mbarCl2: 1.0–2.0 mbarCl3: 2.0–4.5 mbarEach operating pressure range can be employed for the corresponding pressure or vacuum

    D3 series pressure wave switch

    Pressure wave switches

Pressure wave switches with snap-action switchD3 series pressure wave switches are particularly suitable for applications where a changeover contact is required, where a hysteresis effect is mandatory or where a pneumatic self-holding effect is required. In the D3, the pneumatic system is separated from the electrical system and the pressure wave movement is converted into a linear movement. The switching principle employs a snap-action switch that establishes a defined condition with regard to the contact pressure. The response pressure is set using the adjusting screw. Three different types are available for selection.

All series D3 pressure wave switches are equipped with self-cleaning contacts anda snap-action switch. They make it possible to have a pneumatic self-holding effect.

    Pneumatic pressure wave profiles

    Pressure wave sensor

Safety with profileWhen a pressure wave profile is compressed, the air volume it contains is compressed in a pulsed manner and this generates a pressure wave. This passes through the connecting hose to the pressure wave switch, where it triggers a contact.
