Target Audience: Counselors, therapists, family & youth support partners, case managers,
teachers, social workers, probation officers, and other individuals working with children, youth, and families.
Course Description: Are you interested in learning new parenting strategies to share with families? Positive Discipline provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This model focuses on helping children become respectful, responsible, and contributing individuals. Through skills-based practice, participants will explore strategies that are both kind and firm, with a focus on connection before correction.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Identify the principles of Positive Discipline
Accurately assess if Positive Discipline is a relevant/indicated intervention
Access resource materials adaptable for use with all ages in many settings
Demonstrate appropriate application of Positive Discipline techniques with children, youth, and families

This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, PCE 3776.
