CLG Thír Eoghain … working to develop and promote Gaelic games and to foster local identity and culture across Tyrone

It’s a very simple but very significant fact that the future of Tyrone as a County and the future of the GAA in our County, currently sit with the 20,000 pupils who attend our schools.

These vitally important young Tyrone people are the main focus of the work we all do at Club, School and County level. Tyrone GAA is about providing a wholesome focus for our young people, about building their sense of ‘Who they are’ and ‘Where they are from’ and about bolstering their self-esteem and personal contentment.

We’re producing this Fanzine for all those pupils … and also, of course, for their parents, guardians, other family members and, very importantly, their teachers. You are all vitally important to us and we appreciate the help and support you give us. Without you, Tyrone GAA would be just a shadow of what it is and has been.

Yet again we have a good programme of Tyrone County games coming up this spring. Our four home Allianz League fixtures include a visit from the All-Ireland Champions, Kerry, on Easter Sunday. Your support can help Tyrone through these major tests. Together we are so much stronger. Giorraíonn beirt bóthar!

The GAA is central to Tyrone and the people in it. It makes clear statements about Who we are and Where we’re from, both as individuals and as a community. The Red

Hand Fan is now a fixed part of the lead-in to the new Season for our young people. Read it. Enjoy it. But above all, come along to the Tyrone games and be part of it all. ‘Walk into the feeling!’

For the first time in a few years, we’re delighted to have four home matches in the Allianz League. As always at this level, they’re all huge games. This year we welcome our Ulster neighbours, Monaghan and Derry, and the ‘big two’ in Munster, Cork and Kerry, to Healy Park. At this stage, we’re familiar with all of them and each game is sure to be a tough, intriguing battle.

The Tyrone support has always given us great backing both in Healy Park and on the road in the Allianz League and we’re sure that they’ll be particularly vocal this year for each of these big games.

After another McKenna Cup campaign that we can take many positives from, we’re approaching the Allianz League in a very positive mind-set. We’ve always prided ourselves on the importance we place on every game and this year’s Allianz League is no exception.

After some good preparation in the McKenna Cup, we’re determined to make up for a disappointing year in 2014 and getting off to a good start is

always important in the Allianz League.

Games in Healy Park have a unique atmosphere and when we are out in the middle of the field it’s easy to ‘get on a roll’ from the noise that is generated from the Tyrone support. If you can be there, then be there to shout your support for us in these crucial home Allianz League games against Monaghan, Derry, Cork and Kerry.

In games against neighbours and rivals what may seem to be small things can often make a big difference. I’ve seen us lift our game in the past and win because we’ve got that little bit of extra energy from the Tyrone supporters. You’ve already done it throughout the McKenna Cup so let’s keep it going.

Champion Welcome… Champion Send-Off!

It’s now our Tyrone tradition to hold a ‘Meet the Players’ event immediately after our last home Allianz National League match. This year it will take place on Sunday 5 April – Easter Sunday -

when we’ll be honoured to welcome the All-Ireland Senior Football Champions, Kerry, to Healy Park. You can get your autographs, pose for your ‘selfies’ with whoever and, of course, touch base with your favourite players. There might even be an Easter Egg or two available! Don’t miss it! It’s become a big day for our players. It’s become a big day for Tyrone GAA. Make sure it’s a big day for you and your family too. All you need to do is be there!
