Donne Gals We hope that you enjoyed the last days of summer. Fall arrived on September 23rd, so start getting out your warm duds. You will need them, I hear, or so says the Farmers’ Almanac. The officers for the 2014-2015 year were duly sworn in on September 11th. Because of the change in date of the meeting, only a small group could attend. However, they tried to clap “extra” hard to congratulate us. This was a very pleasant and friendly evening with lots of good food and time to relax and talk. Little business was discussed. In October, we will start planning the Euchre Party. We will need plenty of help, as always. So please be sure to come! Our next meeting is October 16th at 7:00 PM. Oh yes … dues will be collected in October, too. Dues are only $15.00. Respectfully submitted, Jean Carrier, Recording Secretary

Around the Council

1919thth Annual Thomas J. Watters Scholarship Annual Thomas J. Watters Scholarship Our Council recently held its’ annual Golf Outing and a large portion of the proceeds were designated to the City of Livonia parks fund. From left Council Advocate Leo Neville, Livonia mayor Jack Kirksey, Golf Chairman Sam Aldridge and PGK Dick Gibson present a check for $1,000 to be used in the creation of the newly constructed Larry Neissel Fallen Hero Park, dedicated to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Livonia and the state of Michigan.

It was a beautiful early fall day as the Knights of Columbus of Michigan played a vital roll in the success of the Special Olympics fall State Games held in Canton. Knights and their wives and kids from around the Archdiocese of Detroit, prepared and served the over 600 Special Olympians a hot dog lunch. Pictured are those who volunteered their time.

St. Mary of Redford High School All- Class Florida Reunion February 14, 2015 – St. Valentine’s Day

Same Venue – Similar Menu – Price Increase From $22 To $23! The annual all-class reunion in Florida of St. Mary of Redford alumni will be held at Venice Golf and Country Club, at 11 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2015. We will have an excellent hot lunch, and an opportunity to renew friendships with others who have shared the St. Mary experience. The menu will be similar to previous years, with the first price increase since 2012. Alcoholic drinks are available with credit card. For St. Valentine’s Day, bring your significant other (is there ever an insignificant other?) or just yourself.

After the reunion, many attendees will take the opportunity to attend Mass at 3 pm at Our Lady of Lourdes nearby, and spend the rest of the day enjoying the town of Venice. Please be sure to contact any of your classmates who may be in the south central Florida Gulf Coast at that time. Venice is located about midway between Tampa and Naples, on the Gulf Coast, and the club is easily accessed from I-75. Exit 193 to Jacaranda, go south about 2 miles to Center Road. Left (east) one mile to main entrance of club. Give name at Security Gate, and proceed to first cross road, Fieldstone Drive. Club is on the northeast corner.
