What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When distributing your film you can use either small average company or big international company. The difference is that small companies will only distribute certain films, most of the time with a small budget. Whereas big distribution companies distribute a wide range of films which are often high budget films.

For the type of opening film we have worked on, I think it would be most likely we distribute it by a large company. The reason we decided this is because, our story line follows the horror genre and not such as a social realism.

You don’t always need a big budget to have your film distributed by a large company, although our opening follows the theme of a large distributing company it doesn’t approximately have the budget for it.

After having a look at many different media distributions we decided that Lionsgate would be the most applicable company for our film. The reason we choose Lionsgate, is because they have distributed a lot of horror films so it is relevant for our movie.

They have distributed a wide range of films, and in 2007 they have become the most successful independent film company in North America.
