Section 1 will consist of 10 translation questions. In determining the
best translations, you should take into account the meaning of the
sentence, the appropriate spelling of words, and the level of formality.

each sentence that are underlined with a letter underneath them. You will be
asked to select which one of those words is an ERROR in grammar by selecting
(a), (b), (c), (d), or (e) on your answer sheet.

“autoestima” in the feminine. And in choice (E), it is correct to change “o” to “u” because
“otros” begins with an O, so you must avoid the “double o.”
Level: (3). This is a level 3 question because it requires a knowledge of the “finer points” of
grammar.

Answer: (D). While most of the answer choices could mean “ticket,” you have to look at
the context. Since this is a speeding ticket given by a Police Officer, the word “ticket” is
the same as a “fine” or “citation,” so it is appropriate to say “multa.” The word
“billete” refers to a travel ticket. “Entrada” refers to admission tickets. “Etiqueta”
refers to a label or tag (such as those on clothing). “Tiquete” has had English influence,
and is not appropriate in this context.
Level: (2). This is a level 2 question because this is an everyday context, but the
candidate must also identify certain nuances.
