Power Point Basics
Text
» The text should be large, never too small. Slides that are too long will lose the readers attention. Make it simple and short. If too long, make another slide. Also pictures, titles, and backgrounds should have something to do with the slide.
animation
» Animation is fun, but make sure it doesn't take away from the point of the power point.
SOUND
» Use only when necessary - One of the most interesting things about Powerpoint is that you an create multimedial presentations, which is great, except that you are tempted to use all of the sound effects available to you! Use multimedia when it is effective, and not for sound effects.
» Audio usually distracts! –be careful how much sound you use.
Timing
» If your slides are long the audience will get bored.
» If the slides are too short and quick the reader will not get a chance to read it.
» The animation timing should not take very long, or the reader will get distracted.
color
» Dark Blue to project a stable, mature message - has a calming effect
» Red or Orange to trigger excitement or an emotional response
» Green to make audience comfortable» Yellow to get audience attention quickly (more so
than any other color)» Gray to promote the idea of "quality"» White to project honesty/sincerity» Black is not appealing to most viewers
images
» Images should have to do with the slide.
